New Years at Disney

Has anyone been? I had some friends who were contemplating heading to Disney for New Years and I guess I just never knew how busy it was. I know that Christmas is the busiest time of the year, but does it clear out by NYE?

I would think that NYE and the following week would be a great time to visit...hmm...planning... mickey

I haven't been personally on NYE, but from what I understand it's pretty crazy. Not too sure about the week after, but my understanding is that the later weeks in January are less crowded, save for Marathon and MLK weekends.

I have done NYE at The Magic Kingdom once, and I swore to myself that I will never, ever, do it again.

I've been to WDW when it was very busy, in the middle of the summer with school holidays and stuff. But when you can't even walk down Main Street and all the attractions are more than an hour in the middle of the day, it's time to get out. And that's what we did.

Instead, we had a lovely NYE at Downtown Disney sitting by the lagoon with a large banana split.

New Year's Eve at Disney is Holiday season, where everything is at the highest levels of the year. I have heard that crowds are unbelievable.

New Year's at Disney would be a lot of fun...except for the crowds...

I would love to hear some reports of whether this year was the same kind of madhouse as usual.

Wow! Thanks for the feedback. It sounds like it's almost as bad as Christmas, which is really unfortunate. I was hoping it could be a new destination for the New Year, but, alas, we'll stay at home and think about going for Valentine's Day.

A banana split sounds good right about now, however...

Ditto! Thanks for the information, everyone. It might be one of those things to do "once in a lifetime," but if I'm going to be fighting crowds, I'd rather celebrate on the top of the Eiffel Tower or something like that. (I have NO idea where I drempt that up!)
