online registration with a linked reservation

Okay, here is a question I haven't seen before -

We are going in Sept with another couple and since they are basically newbies, their reservations for everything is linked with ours (separate rooms and they are paying for their portion, but ADRs,Magic Bands, FP+ etc are linked). I did the online registration for us, but they are unable to. He called once and was told that it wasn't a good idea that we had linked because that makes it "more difficult" so they will have to do the registration live when we get there.

I called tech support and she laughed and said, no just go to mydisneyreservations.com and you can fill in the online registration for them (except the credit card) and then quickly link the card when we get there.

I did that, but it told me that there was no such reservation number (I have EVERYTHING on spreadsheet for both parties), and I should call the tech line again. I called TA and confirmed numbers and she assured me that they are all there and she can see them just fine.

So I called again and they told me that somewhere along the way our numbers were changed and for them it isn't seeing the new reservation number for our friends so we will have to do counter registration for them after all. The second CM told me that to try to do it online means breaking the connection, re-doing all the bands and losing the ADRs????

First, I don't want to start all over at this point and we have a tight turn around from Orlando to CSR to DS for 3:30 FP or 4:30 Dinner at 50's. Is this how we should do it or should I try for a third CM's opinion?

I have no idea about the registration issues.

But for the timing issues, if the lines are long they could store their stuff in your room and register after dinner.

MDE and Magic bands work great, as long as you don't try to do anything with them.

AP expires before you get there = problem
Multiple parties = problem
Split Stays = problem

Eventually Disney will iron out all these bugs and it will make them be much more profitable and they will be able to pass those savings down to you.

What do you mean by "registration"?

Are you talking about online advance check-in?

Call again and explain to the CM that you have tried several times to solve the problem via phone. Ask them if they can forward you to a tech support CM. We had significant problems with DH's magic band because we set up and account for him and linked it to mine and somewhere along the line everything got corrupted. The poor front line CMs, try as they might, just didn't have the tools at their disposal to help us. Once we got to the tech team, it still took some time, but they straightened EVERYTHING out. They are tough to get to because Disney seems to hold them back for cases that are truly complex, but if you tell the CM that you first speak to that you think that your problem is very complex and you have tried several times to resolve it, you should be able to get them to transfer you. Good luck and keep calm. Disney loves you and wants you to be happy. They will ultimately do what it takes to make that happen! mickey

I was actually given a number for tech support to contact. The very nice person said that it is because our group is "linked". We also can't wait until we get back because we can't charge anything to the bands at dinner and I am SURE there will be alcohol involved....

I will give it another call and see if I can get another CM to "magically" get me thru the quagmire. And yes, I am talking about advance registration. I was told that if we were all registered, stopping to link a card is a 5 minute job.

Thanks all and will report back.
