Parkour

So apparently the stuff where people jump off walls and do all kinds of crazy stuff like that is called "Parkour"... I didn't know this until about 20 minutes ago. It's still pretty cool though. Here's a video:

I wonder how they justify spending so much time learning something like that. Maybe the best ones get paid a lot? It certainly is amazing.

Parkour and Freerunning have been around for a long time but have only been popular in the mainstream (especially in the US) for a few years.

Here are a couple older videos I've had for years (linked from Youtube for your viewing pleasure):

Wasn't long ago, this was only a hobby. Now many are able to make a living of it doing stunt work and competitions, etc.

The young boy in Disney;s new Prince of Persia: Sands of Time movie featuring Jake Gyllenhaal is a parkour fanatic. In fact, that is how they found him, and part of why they hired him.

I would not go that far dsoup, never heard of it myself. I do have to say that they are in better physical condition than I am. wink

Wow -- no kidding!? That's an interesting tidbit of info.

I figure the only "real job" you can get doing this type of stuff is stunt work, like LIFL said! Talk about mind over matter!
