I switch off between toasted and un, but more often they are toasted. I only eat the Fiber One poptarts these days though. In my opinion, they're just as good and actually have some healthful properties. My favorite flavors are also brown sugar & cinnamon and strawberry.

Last surprise I have planned is a multi-step one. Hopefully it will be one of the highlights of the trip.

I love that we're talking about poptarts silly Good tohear that the fiber one version is just as good. That sounds to me like an impetus to eat some pop tarts!

Can't wait to hear about the multi-step surprise.

Perhaps it is all our memories of the past 55+ years we have been friends and lovers that this place has become so special to us, especially the last 7 + years of Jan's struggle with cancer and other illness'. The sign says it all and I sing it to my sweetheart.

Untoasted all the way. As Joe points out, where would you toast them in WDW anyway?

Also, congrats on only being 2 days away! I'm so jealous!

We leave Sunday morning.
I didn't post that song, with me singing to Jan,as a ego thing but rather to show how, although wonderful to be at with kids or grand kids, Disney can be a very wonderfully romantic place for two old folks still very much in love.

Great trip as usual. Got back Saturday. Can't wait for our next trip in December.
It will be a few days before I can reduce my picture files in order to post them here. I will also try to estimate how much money we spent on food for the 7 days we were at WDW. Not much I know.
Wow-- was it a great week!

Hi Joe! Welcome home -- although I'm sure it's bitter sweet. Just think, next time you go, there will be Christmas decorations! eek biggrin

Looking forward to the thoughts and photos from the trip.

I certainly hope you get a lot of "thank you"s when you wear your Veteran hat, Joe. Have you ever taken part in the veteran volunteer flag lowering at the Magic Kingdom?

Sure Brad, except for maybe a Bud to wash it down, a short hike up the Boardwalk at ESPN lounge.

ESPN Club is a great place to get some entertainment without spending any extra money. Especially if you don't buy much food. Trying to think of other places like that.

I know this is a little off the topic...but the question about comments about Joe and his hat made me wonder...

How many others on here, besides Joe, are veterans?

I am...6 years...US Army...1974-1980

In regards to the flag lowering ceremony. I volunteered the day we were at the MK, but they already had chosen an active duty, highly decorated Marine Gunnery Sergeant to do the honors. He was dressed in full dress blues.

If you have never seen this ceremony, I highly encourage everyone to take a few minutes out of their day to do so.

Agreed. It's one of those special things Disney does that makes the park that much richer. I wonder how many folks come to Disney prepared to do the ceremony in full dress uniform -- that's very interesting.

I love that place. And if you hit it during one of the sports casts, it's very cool.

SpaceAce, I kind of wondered about the dress uniform too. But there are (or were) a couple schools for the military in the Orlando area. I was just wondering if Disney went to one of them and ask the school to choose someone to be a part of the flag ceremony.

Don't know about the military personal at the flag raising. Never go to the parks.
I haven't been in my Navy uniform since 1958. I doubt if it still fits.
Here's the figures I put together from our last trip earlier this month.

Fuel and tolls there and back: approx. $60.00

Reservations at Pop Century: $432.00

Eating: $236.55
The total for 7 days and 6 nights was: $728.55

Now our kids, God bless them, always make sure we have a reservation every three months, knowing that WDW is the greatest thing happening in our twilight years, especially with Jan's health issues.

We can afford that every three months. Even on Social Security.

Pix of Jan outside Boardwalk Bakery. Note the huge crowds.

Goodness! How did you get around in such a overwhelming throng of people! laugh

A little over $100/night is not bad at all. We usually pay more than that for the room.

I'm curious. If passes were free, would you go to the parks?

I would like to see Epcot but not very interested in the other parks. A stay at Disney for Jan and me is more about the magical atmosphere rather than the amusement ride thrills. We leave that for the younger folk. We don't expect everyone to understand this because everyone has not lived the life we have.
I would never negate the park experience. I'm quite sure they are amazing and definitley great for kids. We just enjoy the more laid back, subtle, pleasures all around Disney resorts. I hope you all can understand this. Disney is a wonderful place for any person open to the 'Magic".

Absolutely!

And those are some great cost totals, Joe. You really don't have to break the bank to enjoy the magic of Disney. mickey

I love the photo of Jan with the monorail! How do you guys like the new Contemporary Cafe?

I don't find it hard to understand at all. I was just curious. I was thinking about what the cost of an annual pass would add to your trip and thinking about whether it would be worth doing once. Maybe you could try an Epcot after 4 pass, although I think those were more expensive than we thought were worth it.

We could totally have a great time without the parks. Was just curious if it held no appeal to you or if it just wasn't worth the money.

I'm sure it's worth the money. Jan has had cancer 4 times in the last 7 1/2 years along with many other major medical problems, like heart attacks and such. When a catastrophic illness affects you the medical expenses take all you have. If the insurance pays 80% of a $1.5 mil. bill that leaves 20% owed by you know who. After the Doctors, hospital and drug companys take their share there is not much left over for Mickey Mouse. Although Epcot is the only park that holds any intrest for us the cost of entrance would take away 3 nights at Pop Century. We are not about to give that up. It's just that simple.

I have been to other Disney bbs' and have done some posting on them. I am delighted to have found this site for grownups and experience muture, thoughtful posts.
