Pirates

I have been on Pirates many dozens of times, and it is one of my all time favorites.

I can't believe I never noticed the differences between the Disneyland and MK versions. It had been so long since DL for me when I went on the MK version, I did notice it wasn't exactly the same, but didn't realize how different it is. Apparently, it is much shorter (reports vary, but some said half as long) and only has one flume versus three (one report said two, but I remember it having three...don't know if that's changed).

Anyone been on both close enough together to compare the two?

DL definitely has three drops to WDW's one. That's about the extent of my knowledge.

DL's does have the three drops, and it's much longer. DL's version also has a whole section that WDW's doesn't. It's the section at the beginning that takes you past the Blue Bayou restaurant.

The Pirate ship battle and the Village scenes are similar, as are the additions that were made to include characters from the POC movies.

3 drops sounds like fun. Are they all big drops, or little ones? All in the dark?

They are all moderate drops; nothing "Splash Mountain" like.

An interesting bit of trivia- the PoC DL drops serve a purpose; to lower the boat below the level of the railroad tracks where the bulk of the ride takes place. The drop in the WDW PoC is there for a reason too- to replicate the DL version.

Similar to the Haunted Mansion's stretching room. In DL it serves a purpose in WDW it is just for historical accuracy!
