Pre-Trip

I am the ultimate over planner. I have a check list for everything. There's also a ritual that goes with the list. For example the day before we leave, I always get a mani-pedi. The day of departure, double check bags and get them in the car, set timers on lights and tv, turn off water and hot water heater (drain it), pack the cooler, make sure the boys go before we go etc. Do you have any pre-trip to dos that might help, or just might be interesting?

Roughly the same as yours, except we don't use light timers..We have our windows inside wired to a generator which zaps any intruders at 1000000 volts... waiting It's like a giant taser...

We always pull away from the house with me feeling like I forgot something, and trying to figure out what it might be. One year, it was my sunglasses.

I lay everything out on the bed in the guest bedroom. I usually start about a month out and primarily with the things we won't use before then like the Brita water bottles and the rain ponchos. I start getting all of our travel sized items ready.

Drain the hot water tank huh? I have never thought to do that.

That's something we always do when going away! I came home after a long weekend and found a rather nasty leak developed. So we drain the tank and turn the breaker off to save money!
