Prepping for runDisney

Has anyone ever used one of the "couch to 5K", or other similar, programs to prep for a runDisney event? (Someone on this forum brought the "couch to 5K" program to my attention) I'm kinda sorta slightly interested, but I'm a little nervous about starting, and wanting to talk with other folks who eased their way into running, after either never having been a runner, or who started back running after a long time sitting around eating potato chips and trying not to look at themselves in a bathing suit.

Cheers! Smile

Nancy, I havent ran a Disney 5K but I did use the C25K app on my phone to train for a run in our little town. I completed and ended up running it in 27:15. I think worth trying.

I've never used the couch to 5K. I just started with short distances and ran a bit then walked a bit. I think it was something like 1 min run 2 min walk. Right now i do about 3 min run/ 3 min walk. I haven't been running very long (only about 2-3 months). I can do 5K in about 38 min. I'll be doing my first ever race this november for the Wine and Dine 5K Smile .
I've heard lots of good things about the couch to 5K and i was going to try it but i never got around to printing it out. If I had an iphone or smartphone I definately would have gotten the app.

C25K is wildly popular, especially if you use an app that you can take out with you on the road.

My best piece of advice is not to be scared, just get out there and get started! Use a run/walk combination at first and you'll be doing just fine.

Since my heart attack last August I've been using the c25k system on tread mill. I know its not earth shattering but I went from 1 mile in 30 min to 2.25 miles

Mrhub, thats awesome, just knowing that youve did it is enough!! You've done better than those that sit back and do nothing. 11 years ago I was in a car wreck and was told that I was lucky to be able to walk then 2 years ago I was dignosed with MS so this years goal was to run that 5K. Still puts a smile on my face knowing I did it and showed those dr!! Got to set goals and at least try.
