Really Bad Ideas From Disney

Wow, Disney is supposedly considering two really bad ideas at once:

A Movie Starring Paris Hilton's Dog?

Remaking "Adventures In Baby-Sitting"

I have several thoughts on these, but my biggest is...have we really run out of stuff to remake that we're remaking "Adventures in Babysitting?"

awesome Brad,

Considering the movie trailers shown on TV, the movies must all suck.

Hmmm...I hadn't heard about the remake of Adventures in Babysitting...don't really know what I think about that.

I myself am a little upset that they are making Race to Witch Mountain. We saw the preview last weekend.

I loved Escape to Witch Mountain and Return from Witch Mountain when I was a kid and I just don't see how a 3rd movie can match up those two.

Although I guess it's better that they are using new material rather than doing a remake....

For a long time I haven't seen the appeal of Disney's live-action stuff. Pirates was a great series, but what else have they really done (Enchanted?) that's really made box office headlines recently?

Also, what's their current affiliation with Pixar these days? Still just distributing?

Who would be cast in Adventures in Babysitting? That film was so centered around the 80's...I wonder what the "drama" would be as traslated for today's generation.

Since 2006 Disney owns Pixar. It was purchased by a stock only transaction worth over $7 billion.

The deal made John Lasseter, formerly Executive Vice President of Pixar, Chief Creative Officer of both Disney and Pixar.

Ah yes! Thanks, Imagineer.

Did this signifcantly change the way Pixar does business and/or makes decisions? Does the larger Disney company (i.e. executives other than Lasseter) have a significant authority over what Pixar is doing, or is the acquisition more or less in name only?

Just wondering if anyone has inside info...
