Regis & Kelly Christmas Parade Taping

Is anyone familiar with the taping of the Regis & Kelly Christmas parade?

We had no idea about it when we booked our min-trip from Dec 3-6, but I've recently heard they always tape that parade the first weekend in December.

Rumor has it they will tape on Saturday in MK; I've heard conflicting reports about how crazy it is - one says it's just Main Street that is tough to get through because of the cameras but the crowds are not that bad. I've also heard the crowds can be bad!

I've also heard that you can sign up to be an extra, if you are willing to wait up to 4 hours to be in the show. I'm not really interested in any of that, though - just wanting to avoid mass chaos Smile

We're planning on visiting HS on Saturday 12/4, and MK on Sunday 12/5, which is also the night we have tickets to MVMCP.

I think that pretty much anything that brings extra bodies into the MK is usually going to lead to a avoid the park day. We've never been on the parade taping day though, so that might be an exception.

The Orlando Sentinel, Theme Park Rangers blog usually has details of taping days and what to expect regarding crowds. It may be worth looking through their archive for the review of last year.

I've heard conflicting reports on this, too, Jeff, but, personally, I'd steer clear of taping day at the MK. I've heard it can be pretty crazy.

Here's a Daily Disney blog post from the Orlando Sentinel last year describing how to get tickets for the taping. It also mentions that concerts were being performed at the Castle Forecourt stage the thursday and Friday prior to the taping, so those might be good days to avoid, too!

Sounds like Sunday is perfect!

Usually the first week in December is a great time to go! If you want to avoid the masses..then yes..avoid MK on taping day. For me, I'd totally do it simply because I have a crush on Regis.

This is a off topic but thought you might enjoy it.

A few years ago I was in San Antonio and there was a TV crew filming in front of the Alamo. This was waaaaaaay before "Who wants to be a Millionaire".

My friend and I walked by the set and I said to her, "Look, it's Casey Kasem."
Miffed, one of the crew members barks out at me, "That's not Casey Kasem,
it's Regis Philbin." "Dumb tourists".

So that's my Regis story. waiting

Haha - that's funny. Now, if I see him when we are there, I will say out loud, "Look, it's Casey Kasem" and laugh to myself because I will be the only one who understands my inside joke.

I love Regis..so that story knocks my socks off. I'd love to see him in person!
