Resort Face Off: Beach Club vs. Yacht Club

So I've shockingly never stayed at either of these resorts, even though I spend a lot of time over there. Can anyone give me a reason, other than price, to pick one over the other?

I've only stayed at Beach Club, and I really enjoyed the common areas of the Villas section.

Other than decor, I can't imagine there's too much difference, though Samantha Brown seems to claim on Great Hotels that Yacht Club is snootier...

The Yacht Club is quite classy. I tend to prefer it to the Beach Club. Always seems to be less busy as well.

Bumping up this ancient thread wheelchair

I've booked a Disney cruise for October 2014 and am planning on staying at Beach or Yacht for a few days afterwards. I prefer the more luxurious look of Yacht Club (especially after coming off the cruise!) but most people I talk to seem to prefer Beach Club.
I'm also concerned about these resorts having a conference centre as I stayed at the Contemporary during a conference/convention and it wasn't a great experience.

Any feedback on Yacht, Beach, or conferences you fabulous folks can provide will be much appreciated!!

I think both are lovely resorts, the difference is really only visual IMHO, and Beach Club is a touch closer. If I were to pick I would choose the Yacht Club because I like the more formal feeling that it has.

We have never stayed at The Beach Club, but have stayed at The Yacht Club twice. We LOVE it there !!
It's relaxed and beautiful !! I believe the Yacht is a bit quieter in my opinion. I really think that you can't go wrong with either choice. The pool that is shared is amazing and the location is one of the best. If we could afford it, the Yacht Club would be our choice every time.
When we go in November, we are trying out Port Orleans - French Quarter. mickey

Wow! Thanks for the quick replies! I'm glad to hear you both enjoy the Yacht club. I forgot that BC is closest to the walkway to Epcot. I think I might book YC and take the longer walk.
Thanks for your help! I'm still eager to hear more opinions too awesome

I was at my friends' today for a cook out. Their neighbor was there who own at the Beach Club. It was the first time I met her and we hit it off instantly. As I was driving home I was thinking maybe.... I will talk to her about renting some points for a solo long weekend next year in between the February and November trips. I want to get my money's worth out my annual pass, right? mickey

I've stayed at both. They are lovely resorts. Yacht Club has a more "Nautical/Nantucket" feel to it, perhaps more formal. I prefered Beach Club. It's more "Victorian/Martha's Vineyard" feel. Yes, it is closer to Epcot as well. Both resorts share Storm Along Bay but I also just liked the decor and atmosphere of Beach Club. Its a little more relaxed.

I know BC is DVC but is there any other differences between the two resorts? They share everything or just about everything.

I think the word "share" can be deceptive. It's not just one big hotel, they are two distinct properties that happen to be connected by an internal hallway. The theme (colorscheme, decor, artwork) and feeling is different at each. The restaurants aren't shared - each belongs to a specific resort, each has it's own gift shop. Beach Club has DVC Villas attached to it, the Yacht Club has a Convention Center and Wedding Venue.

The guests staying at these resorts do get to share all of the recreational facilities, and Stormalong Bay belongs to both. The other activities do belong to a specific resort. Beach Club doesn't have it's own Marina - that's at Yacht Club. Yacht Club doesn't have its own Beach - that's at Beach Club. Yacht Club is home to the Tennis Court, Beach Club has the Kids Club.

Make sense?

The rooms are basically the same set-up. It's just the decor that is different. Whichever theme you prefer. Yacht Club also has a convention center, so there are a lot of business meetings going on. It seemed when we were there less kids in the resort than at Beach Club.

Yea. Do they both share the same front desk and concierge areas?

No - each has it's own lobby, it's own concierge, it's own everything. They are two different hotels, they just share some of the recreation.
