Restaurant Adventures

What restaurants have you "explored" in the World? Ones you've always been curious about and finally got around to trying...and how did you like them??

Great question!

We always walked by the Brown Derby in DHS and finally tried it on our last trip. It's huge inside compared to what you'd expect from the outside and very "polished" for a theme park restaurant. The food was very good as was the service. I hadn't been overly excited by the menu, but I actually loved the food.

We had never been in a terrible rush to try it out. I figured it would be both stuffy because they were trying to make it fancy, but not that nice because it was in a park. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised and will probably do it again on the next trip. The pork dish I had was great, although a tad bit underdone, which I like in steak but not so much in pork.

Thanks for this review, Brad. I've always wondered about this place.

Millie -- We were never sure about sampling Les Chefs de France; I had a bad experience there as a kid (guess I didn't like French food wink ) and wasn't sure I was up for it as a grown-up. It ended up being great, and the service was phenomenal. I also liked the ambiance of the bustling, yet elegant, restaurant. Having been to Paris now, I see that it really is a true French bistro.

Citrico's really took us by surprise, Millie. You walk past Victoria and Albert's to get there, and you wonder how good it can be compared to the best restaurant on property, but it's a wonderful experience. The service is lovely, the restaurant is quiet and relaxed, and the food is fantastic.

Well we've been to the three above mentioned restaurants and enjoyed all of them immensely. Although I wish we'd spent more time at the Brown Derby. We reserved it as part of the Fantasmic package and had to get moving to make it to the show.

Maybe I'll add favorite restaurants to my signature line Smile)

OK, the signature line thing isn't going to work. I'll post a thread with the restaurants we've eaten in and how we liked them...remember it's just our personal opinion...that's what I love about Disney, there is something for everyone!!

That's a great idea; maybe a beginning to WDWFG "review section."

We always passed by the Plaza and finally ate there. I thought the food was so-so but the desserts were very good. Pretty much what I was expecting. I wasn't in a huge hurry to go back, but that was mainly because the seating was so cramped.

Plaza's a hidden gem, I think! It's no four-star meal, but they have great sandwiches, and the ice cream from the Ice Cream Parlour next door is awesome. awesome

I really enjoy the Plaza, but it always gets cut when we run out of meals for our trip.

I had always loved the architecture in Morocco, but I had never tried Marrakesh for a long time. I thought it was great. One of the most interesting ethnic food places at Disney World for sure.

Anything you can suggest there, cdub? What dishes did you try?

This is a great question, Millie! The restaurant I always wanted to try during my first trips was Cinderella's Royal Table. I'd eaten there once as a little kid, but didn't remember much. It was so cool to climb those stairs up to the castle dining room and see the sun streaming in the windows. I loved it. Food was so-so, but just eating in the castle was a dream come true.

I can't remember the name of it, but there's a dish that's basically a little of everything. It was great. We loved the baklava!

Hi,

In my seven solo trips to WDW there are few restaurants that I've never tried. Cinderella's Royal Table (aka Tables in Wonderland) in MK; The Hollywood Brown Derby in DHS; Citricos and Victoria and Albert's in the GF; Yachtman's Steakhouse in YC; and of course the restaurants that have opened since I was last to WDW in December of 2007.

@cdub: I believe the meal that is "basically a little bit of everything" of which you cannot remember the name, is this:

Marrakesh
Royal Feast
- Harira soup, Beef Brewat Rolls, Lemon Chicken,
Roasted Lamb Meshoui, Couscous with Seven Vegetables, and Assorted
Moroccan pastries $42.95 per person

Thanks to All-Ears.

Jim

That's the one! Given your performance at Shula's, I think you should be sure to go check out Yachtsman on your next trip. I think it's definitely comparable to Shula's. No eating competitions for you though. laugh

If anyone there looking a precious restaurant so I suggest that try Brown Derby. In my opinion Brown Derby is an excellent theme park restaurant; it has excellence and appetizing food variety.

Best Regards,
