Sea World Length of Time

I haven't been to Sea World in Orlando since I was a little girl. How much time would/do you plan to spend there when you go? Is it an all day park, would you prefer more than one day in the park?

It's been a few years since I've been there (2004?). As I recall, I spent about 6 hours there. That was enough time to see all the shows and the exhibits. If I go back I'd like to spend more time to enjoy it all a little more.

When we went in Dec we went on the VIP Tour. The tour ran from 11am to 5pm. It was a great way to see the park, all the major shows and some of the animal feedings. You also get one of the Quick Queue Unlimited bracelets, basically fast passes for the roller coasters. You can buy those without a tour. The tour saved us a lot of time because we didn't have to wait around for the shows to get good seats, quick queues for rides, front of the line for all the feedings. We saved a great deal of time.

I guess it depends on what is important to you? We didn't want to ride any of the rides, we just wanted to do all of the shows. I am sure if you went on one of the days when the park was open from 9-11pm you could see it all even without the tour.

But what about Aquatica? I think that's their water park? If you're doing that, you may want to allow two days, right?

We went this past May. I would say one day would be plenty. It wasn't crowded at all (there were some school groups, but even with that, the lines to see the attractions and ride the rides were very minimal. 10 mins at most). SeaWorld closes pretty early (7, I think it was when we were there), so if you get there mid-morning and stay until close, you'll do it all. But they do (or did, not sure if it's still in effect) have a deal where you paid for one day and got a second day for free, so if you felt like you absolutely HAD to spend more time in the park, you could.

Do you remember the price difference between regular admission and and the VIP tour, angels?

Okay, I think we're going to bite the bullet and go to Sea World / Aquatica in July. I'm hoping that one day at Sea World and one day at Aquatica is going to be sufficient, since we have two daredevils and two chickens (self included) who aren't going to do any thrill rides.

I can't seem to find anything about crowd levels for this time of year...anybody know??

Sea World is great, but one day at the park and one day at Aquatica should be good. Teachers in FL get a free annual pass every year, so it's great for both of us. When the kids were little we went a lot, bought them the pay for a day get in all year deal and we were set. We did go fairly often. It's a nice clean park with a nice atmosphere, we really like it. Every summer Mike and I say we are going to go get our passes for free and go, but we haven't for a few years now. Maybe this summer...we'll see. It's just a bit of a drive past Disney for us and we can't seem to get past the world!

I hear ya, Julie! I'm coming in from the north, so if I had to drive PAST Disney, I'd probably have a hard time, too! Smile

The tickets that we bought for SW/AQ said that they're good for return visits to either park for 14 days after your first day of admission, so I'm thinking if we DON'T get everything accomplished in one day, at Sea World for instance, then we can go back without paying for an "extra" day.

I'm looking forward to it! I hope we'll have fun!

Thank you so much for the advice, Julie!!

Okay, just returned from Sea World and Aquatica. It was GREAT!

I was glad that we had two days at each park. Here's why:

When we got to Aquatica the first day, there was a thunderstorm, and they closed EVERYTHING! Our only choice was to back to the hotel and wait it out. Lost a lot of time doing "stuff", so we were glad that they offered tickets that allowed you to come back to either park for 14 days after your initial visit.

Sea World is GREAT! I really was NOT expecting what I got out of SW. Very impressive. Clean, friendly, beautiful park. Great theming, awesome shows, spectacular rides (which I shied away from, but my husband LOVED.) We clearly got the feeling that everyone there who worked with the animals LOVED what they were doing and cared about the animals a whole, whole lot. Very heart-warming to see. We were glad to have two days in order to see all of the shows and experience all of the animal feedings you can do.

Next time? We're doing Discovery Cove! We heard WONDERFUL things about it, and the kids got SO EXCITED about being around the animals, they can't wait to experience them up close!

Very thankful to Sea World for helping reinforce our kids' love of the animal world! It's like the Animal Kingdom of the Sea! Smile

Glad you liked it. I am going tomorrow, haven't been there for 5 yrs or so. and am looking forward to it. It is very clean and there are a lot of animals to see, besides just the shows. I agree the staff always seemed to share their love and knowledge of the animals. Now I am looking forward to tomorrow.

Thanks, we did have a BLAST! There were 7 of us teachers that went, with no kids! We had so much fun! We saw almost all the shows and rode a lot of the rides. We even got to ride the Manta twice, I love that coaster, it's so cool, really does feel like you're flying, once you relax. The lines got longer later in the day, and it started to storm about 6:30 so we headed home. We did a lot but didn't spend that much time with the animals. The cool thing is I have a free study pass until 12/31, then can get another one next year. I really appreciate that Sea World lets teachers in for free, it's quite a perk and nice to be appreciated.

I went to school today for a few hours to ease my way into it. Got a little done. Dr. appts tomorrow, beach Thursday cool and back to school Friday, with planning all next week. Kiddos come the 19th biggrin

Are your kids back DisneyDoc? We used to start in early Aug. but a few years ago they passed a law that said we can't start a certain number of days before Labor day. With tourism so big here, I guess they need hs kids to work into Aug.? I think the 19th is the soonest we can start this year.

Hope everyone has a great school year! crossfingers

Our kids start Aug 8th. Tomorrow is my last day to try and get it all done! I always feel behind the 8 ball, but we somehow make it work.

Enjoy your last few days. We do have the greatest jobs ever, us teacher people. We really do. muchlove

I see Angels didnt update the VIP tour pricing. Well if I remember right the tour is 99.00 on top of admission but you get the best seats for shows and the dolphin feeding you get to be on the very end and they have one come all the way up and your get to pet the whole dolphin! (I petted a dolphin! clapping clapping ) not just his chin. I loved it and I could spend 3 days there with the camera but one with the tour is probably good for most people if it doesnt rain.

I wish we had bit the bullet and done the VIP tour, Hazegry. I so wanted to get up close with all those adorable dolphins once I saw them! We got close to petting them, but didn't get to. They said each has a different personality; some like to be pet and will get up close to you, but others won't.

Julie, I'm glad you had such a good time and I think it's fantastic that they offer teachers free admission! Another reason to love Sea World!

We have the same rule around here: school can't start until August 20th!
