Smoking areas in theme parks

I continually find that the best places for sitting and resting in the parks have now been designated "smoking areas." I'm not a smoker, and don't really want to be around smoke, so that keeps me from being able to relax in some of the more convenient "chill-out" spots. Anyone else find this to be the case?

This is just my perception, and I might be completely off base. Does anyone have a link to a map of the smoking areas?

It does seem like they've reserved some of the coziest, shady spots for smokers. But by no means, in my opinion, does that mean there aren't still some nice smoke-free places to relax.

As a non-smoker, I can tell from forty feet away when I've come near one of those spots; I'm that sensitive to smoke.

Anyway, here is a link to park maps. On the right side, within the legend, you'll see the designated smoking areas.

I look at it like this. The nearest "designated smoking area" should be the Tampa city limits.

I guess I feel that way too laugh I've never been a smoker and am also really sensitive to the smell, but there's that little extra point of it being REALLY UNHEALTHY to be near cigarette smoke of any kind. I won't get on a soap box, but I AM glad they've banned smoking at Jellyrolls.

As a smoker I feel I must reply to this. I'm not trying to change anyone's mind (because 1) I know I won't and 2) I know how bad smoking is, but it's something I choose to do). I'm really glad they have smoking areas. I have no problem at all confining my smoking to certain places in the park. But quite frankly, if they didn't have smoking areas, then I'd just have to make one. I have always tried to be a polite smoker so I'd definitely walk away from where there are crowds, but I wouldn't be a whole day at Disney without a smoke.

And as for all the smoking areas being in cool shady parts of the parks... go hang out in the one next to the speedway in Tomorrowland. Dang, but you can get a sunburn just walking through there! laugh

They get some nice areas, to be sure. But I'd rather have them smoke there than all over the park. I remember standing in line at one of the Six Flags parks with the person in front and in back of me both smoking, and having no real escape.
