Do you have a spider-hunter to keep you safe?
I am the great spider-hunter in my house. They terrify Kim, too; just the other day I got home from work and she was sitting on the patio. Waiting for me. Couldn't get in the house because of the spider relaxing by the door. I saved her AGAIN, poor girl. I can tell by the tone in her voice if it has her by the ankle or is just tippy-toeing near her!
Now snakes. . . I grew up with snakes in the orchards and around the farm. I have a healthy respect for them, for sure, but the give me the willies.
If hubby is home (and awake), he dispatches spiders for me. But if I'm home alone or he's asleep, I do it myself. If they're not too huge I just squish them. If they're large they get sprayed first and then squished. I'm not waiting for hubby - the spider might crawl off and live to freak me out another day.
Edited to add: BTW, hubby is afraid of snakes. Fortunately one has never found its way into our house, but if one did I guess it would be my job to evict it.
I'm deathly afraid of those demon spawn snakes. People say to sit still if one comes near and to not make a movement. Wrong. You run away screaming like a child 
Still... I'm not cancelling my trip

No kidding! We were at the gas station this weekend and as I was pumping gas, I looked down and saw a daddy long-legs spider on my ankle. I screamed like a 3 year old girl and was yelling at Joe to GET IT OFF OF ME!!!!! OMG I hate any creepy crawly thing on me *shudder*
I do believe I caused a small scene....

I don't like snakes either - not quite like Indiana Jones but close. I also hate things that fly and like to dive bomb your head. 
Ive been avoiding this thread in fear of pics. I cant stand snakes. Period.... just thinking about them now is making me jittery!

We spotted a small rat snake moving through the model train display in Germany (Epcot) one night. It was only about a foot long and didn't seem to be too concerned about any of the humans watching it. The kids loved it of course.
I was trying to remember if I've seen snakes at Disney and I don't think I have. There was a swarm of frogs that decided to use the pool at Music for a couple hours one night, however. It was fun watching the CMs trying to scare them away because they just kept jumping back in.

Well, my husband and I took the kids in April of 2011 to stay at Ft Wilderness Resort. One evening out by the pool, my son Michael ( 9 then) came running from the hot tub/spa by the pool to say he found a snake! We got up and looked and yes, there was a long rat snake just hanging out on the rocks. When my hubby announced what kind it was, a lady that had come to see too, thought my husband said "rattlesnake" and screamed her head off! 
We have a snake at home, so Michael asked if we could keep this one. 
His reasoning was that, "But Mom, it's a DISNEY snake!" 
We said one was enough, haha.

Of course most Disney snakes are eraseable, and many can talk.

I'm wigging out about my next trip now! My happy place just got super scary! We're going in January, so maybe we won't have to worry, but holycrap, I never even CONSIDERED the possibility that I would run into a snake in World Showcase. Never. Crossed. My mind!

NOT I, sorry but I am not the one who took that photo. That photo reportedly was taken by a member of the custodial staff early in the morning while cleaning the bathrooms in MK while the park was closed. This was in the bathrooms that are in the covered walkway between adventureland and frontierland. If it had been I who found it, I would of had to really use that bathroom.
After reading this post, you would think Disney is covered with snakes. But in actuality it sounds like each of us have had one snake/reptile encounter. And if you spend enough time in Florida you are sure to have one eventually. I just feel the need to clarify that while you frequently find squirrels, birds, and a large mouse wearing clothing in Disney, snakes are definitely few and far in-between.
