Star Wars Weekends - Avoid 'em or Embrace 'em?

I'm hearing reports of DHS almost filling to capacity this past weekend as Star Wars Weekends have begun.

Is there anyone here who makes a special trip just for Star Wars Weekend? Do you intentionally NOT schedule a trip just to avoid the crowds? Or would you not let it affect your plans either way?

I don't make a special trip for it, but I do enjoy checking it out when I happen to be there (I think that's been all of once!). Kids go all out and dress up, which is fun to see. Also, the characters are an interesting change of pace from your normal disney characters.

I'll admit that SWW once was a draw--just because I wanted to see what it was all about. I didn't do any of the scheduled activities, but I did hang around the Star Tours area to catch some of the characters. I thought it was a lot of fun!

I think they're fun! Stormtroopers on the roof of the entrance are awesome, plus who can resist Vader!

I think if I hadn't been once I would go out of my way to see it. Since I've already seen it I don't really plan around them. I think everyone should check it out once though, even if you're not a Star Wars fan. (I know we have a lot of Trekkies on here who probably have moral issues with Star Wars biggrin )

I went last summer, and I had a ball . .. but on the flip side, it felt extra hot that day (100x more than usual) and it was VERY crowded . . I think we stood in line for a picture with darth vader for 2 hours!!! While I had a blast, and I would go again if I was at WDW at that time . I am not sure I would go again for that purpose. My favorite part was seeing warwick davis and the cool star wars parade.

I always wonder how they survive in any of those costumes in the Orlando summers, much less Darth Vader's. Maybe it has built in AC.

I saw Warwick Davis way back in the day when the Who Wants To Be a Millionaire did Star Wars questions only shows during Star Wars Weekends! He was the "guest host" or something for a while. That was cool; thanks for reminding me!

You Might . . laugh You will probably have an AH! moment after I tell you who he is.

Warwick Davis is the actor who played wicket in Star Wars. He was also Willow, Professor Flitwick from Harry Potter series, Nikabrik in Chronicles of Narnia, and the Leprachaun (pardon my spelling)

I believe those are all his bigger roles that you might know about.

Hope it helps!! stars

When you say the Leprechaun do you mean from all those awful Leprechaun movies? I knew all the rest, but I did not know that.

Wow. I think I'll just pretend I didn't learn that piece of information. I always call him "Willow" in my mind, so I think I'll just leave it that way. I bet people call him that on the street...and he hates it.
