Sweetheart dinners

I've seen marketing for Disney's sweetheart dinners (and read about one in LIFL's trip report) and I'm wondering if they're a good deal. I find that a lot of Disney's "specialty offers" end up having a bunch of "extras" that I don't need or want, so I pay for stuff I don't care about. (This is what happens with vacation packages as well, usually.) Any thoughts? We'd love to have a special celebration the next time we're there, and this might be a good idea.

Also, the dinner on your balcony at Animal Kingdom Lodge. We're not certain we're staying there, but does anyone have any pros or cons?

I think they have one at Jiko don't they? That would be probably my pick.

As long as you know in advance everything that is included and they are things you are interested in, it's great. Like most Disney 'extras' though, it may not be the best value. If you were going to have a three course meal and a glass of wine or champagne at an a la carte restaurant anyway, I would say this would be a good value. If you would otherwise share one appetizer, have entrees, then share a dessert then perhaps not. For us, even though it wasn't what I expected, we really enjoyed it. Look forward to ordering off the menu at Narcoosee's next time. Then we'll have something to compare the Sweetheart Dinner to.

Good point. Many times people get "deals" on something they wouldn't have bought anyway. That's not a deal. silly

If you get the 3 for the price of 2 and only use one, you're not ahead of the game! laugh

Fortunately, we can usually make use of extra appetizers and desserts!

I think it's also nice because it makes an "event" out of it instead of just "dinner."
