Is there any time you'd prefer to do a solo trip?

A lot of people do solo trips out of convenience, but would rather go with someone else if they could. Some on the other hand really like the solo experience. Would you ever want to do a solo trip, even if you had people who were willing to go with you?

I think WDW is a group experience for me. I'd probably go someplace else if I were going solo. It is appealing though in that I'm so familiar with it, it would be easy to do solo.

I always prefer to travel with others.
I spent a long time working away from home a few years ago staying in hotels during the week and the lack of anyone to talk to (apart from actually at and about work) really got to me after a while. Being able to share experiences with someone and talk about them later is important to me.

When I read the title of the thread, I thought you were asking if there was a particular time of year that we'd rather do a solo trip, so I'll answer THAT question, too!

I now have some friends in the Orlando area, so a solo trip for me isn't *actually* all that solo. That said, if I were picking a time to do a solo trip, I think I'd choose to go in May-June. I like exploring the Flower and Garden Festival, plus I'd be able to spend as much time as I want relaxing by the pool if nobody was pulling my arm to go to the parks. Smile

So, now that I think about it, a solo trip might be very nice and relaxing during that time period!

I almost don't need to answer this, do I? wink
I would prefer to travel solo there all the time. Even if I went with others, I'd make it very clear up front that we were going to split up and go our separate ways at times and just meet up for meals.

Can you define what you find most appealing about it? Just the lack of stress of dealing with others' agendas?

I'd go nuts on my own. I think it's so great that you can go off on your own Solo! I wish I had that in me but I'd be boucning all over the place and going a bit nuts without some one else around to listen to me rant about why the bricks are red, how the US flags aren't accurate, or how many hidden mickey's I've found that day. laugh

I read in a book that the flags on main street have only 48 stars this way they do not have to be lowered at night or have a light on them at night. There are simply so many flags to have to lower them all so only the main flag is correct. Every small flag on top of most of the buildings that run down Main Street USA have only 48 stars also due to that every flag pole that holds each flag is actually a lightning rod. Also, when an important person dies they don't have to lower all the Flags to half mast. I believe I read it in Hidden Secrets of Walt Disney World.

I had never heard that. Thanks for the info!

Yes, just being able to do what I want to do, when I want to do it, without having to worry about what other people want to do. Whenever I've gone with other people to theme parks, I've found myself standing around bored because they all want to do some ride I have no interest in or I'm starving so I want to go eat, but they're too busy riding rides, or whatever. It's just so much more pleasant to go by myself. Plus I can get more done in a day alone. No waiting for other people to stop and pee or shop or whatever.

It probably goes smoothly with us because we like most of the same rides and food. Although we do have some disputes about when to eat on a normal day, at WDW all our ADRs are planned in advance so that goes pretty smoothly too. In fact, if we spent all our time in WDW things would probably go more smoothly in general. laugh
