Tipping?

I ended up going with the Dining plan. Question is: how and how much do you tip on the ddp? Is it 20% (depending on service, of course!) of what your total would have been? A flat amount? And while obviously you can tip in cash, can you tip on your room key (or magic band)?

Thanks! I'm making my tip envelopes for Mousekeeping this week!

I usually tip 20% of my total, except buffets I tip 15%. I do add to the tip if it is a character meal buffet and the server takes my picture with the characters. I always leave cash so I'm not sure if you can put it on your room.

You will receive a bill with the total amount. At the bottom, they add suggested tip amounts of 18 and 20%. There may be a third amount but I can't remember.

We do exactly as JoAnn does. Yes you can put it on your room key. If the band is set up for the charging, I don't see why you can't use that also.

I go through menus before we leave and take a guess at what we'll be eating and figure out what our bill would be. I then put cash in an envelope at 20% or 15% and write a little thank you note on the envelope like I do for mousekeeping.

This was one of the best tips I got on this forum. My friends laughed at me the first time I pulled out the tip envelope. Then they quickly realized what a good idea it was as they were searching through their wallets for tip money.

I'm with you JoAnn. My friend and I have planned our tips out for the week. It is so much easier that way.

I did the envelopes too and my DW thought that I was crazy at first! I just grabbed that days envelopes and off we went. Most of the time I had put an extra dollar or two in my envelope, and one time the service was so bad that I had many extra $$$ in my envelope, but then we just pocket that cash and use it towards something else, or the next time we need to tip. It was amazing and I HIGHLY recommend doing the envelope method. I also made envelopes for Mouse Keeping too, and I put them all in the order in which I would need them, and separated each day with a Mouse Keeping envelope. BRILLIANT!
