Top Gear Specials

So we just saw the Bolivia special and I thought it was great. In fact I think the specials are far and away my favorite episodes. Which specials did you guys think were particularly good?

Bolivia was good, but I think they'd have to go a long way to beat the North Pole trip. (OK, bad pun, I'll get my coat)

The latest, being show on Boxing Day in the UK, is filmed in the middle east. I understand they get dropped into Iraq and have to drive to Bethlehem.

North Pole was AMAZING, but I felt like they were so tired and stressed out that the interplay wasn't as funny as usual. Great episode though.

Bella, we're talking about the show Top Gear. Popular with several of the users on here.

It's a show about cars that everyone loves even if they don't care about cars at all.

Speaking of Top Gear, has anyone watched the new "American" version yet, I have seen two episodes and it was a severe disappointment, at least to me. Any other thoughts either pro or con?

I'll keep an eye out for it. It's sure to be shown on one of our obscure satelitte channels eventually. Half og the appeal of the UK show is the way the presenters bounce off of each other, that would be hard to recreate.

I had no intention of watching the American version. I also heard it was bad. But when someone made a point I think is worth noting. Cliarkson/May/Hammond probably didn't have fantastic chemistry right out of the gate. Maybe the Americans deserve a chance? I'm trying to be less scornful about the whole thing but I'm still pretty skeptical of the American version.

I also don't know whey we need to make an "American" version of a perfectly good show. In some cases (for example "Coupling") we make a bad version of a British show that isn't even that great IMO.
