Walk That Walk..

I read a story years ago that an elderly couple who had two weeks vacation at WDW with their gran weans, reckoned they walked at least 5 miles per day..That's 70 miles in a two week vacation..Now I'am up at the crack of dawn whilst at Disney..This is one vacation that sleeping in beyond 8.00am is taboo..We spend at least 4 hours in the morning at one of the parks..Chill out in the afternoon at our resort..( lunch.swim.etc ) Then it's back out again in a park...So am sure we do at least easily 7 to 8 miles walking per day...I would be interested to what you think you cover on a daily basis..Have any of you used a pedometer.? We are taking ours this year and they clip onto your shorts or fanny pack ( is that the correct term ) I call them bum bags..Anyway here's our little Wall-E pedometer .. laugh

I wore my nike GPS watch in Oct. I walked btwn 6 and 10 mi a day depending on how long i spent in the park. Now there is probably some error in this as occasionally i forgot to pause it on the ride but it was still amazing how quickly the miles added up. It made for funny pictures when I hooked the watch to my computer and graphed the mileage!

Our best day using google's distance calculator is just under 10 miles, but we walked the World Showcase twice that day and walked from DHS to EPCOT and back...and both times that we parked, we opted for walking over tramming.

I would say its got to be close to 8-10 I walked 3 miles this morning and it took me about 45 mins so even if we were to round that up to an hour I would say you are doing at least 3-4 hours of walking in a 12 hour disney day. I meant dont forget that hours are spent, eating, shopping, watching shows, watching parades, riding stuff ect

Epcot though, that's at least a 10 mile day no matter who you are

I have worn a pedometer in the past and I tend to do between 5-10 miles a day depending on how I'm feeling.

Yes!!! We have taken our pedometer. We walked over 9 miles at Epcot in one day. We walked around the showcase several times! You just have no idea you walk that much. No wonder we lose weight on vacation! clapping

I don't take a pedometer on vacation but I've walked around EPCOT 4 times in one day! Vacations are for not counting steps or calories!

I don't use a pedometer because I don't have one in my house and maybe I feel it's also a waste of money. But I mean, there's really no need for it when you're in Disney World considering on average park guests will walk about 10-15 miles a day. Plus you're doing a lot of standing. Ride lines, food lines, photographs, etc and they always say you burn more calories standing up than you do sitting down. That's just me though....

Easy Figgy..LOL...I agree about calories at WDW...We got free pedometers from our National Health Clinics so I thought it would be a fun thing..Not to be taken serious...Just curious as to how many miles on a average day...Won't loose sleep over it. Wink

I wore mine and we were between 6-10 miles a day......and I enjoyed many sweet treats including several cupcakes! I didn't feel so guilty about it when I saw how far I had walked wink
