What am I missing?

My Disney experience prior to meeting BuffaloBill (BB) was rather limited - of course I was traveling with my sister and her young son so I wasn't really in control. The last few years BB has expanded my experience and I have now enjoyed late night EMHs, monorail crawls, Wilderness Lodge and the freedom that comes with having a car instead of relying on Disney transportation exclusively. But I've been thinking about the things mentioned here that I haven't experienced and wondered which of these I need to include on my next trip.....what do you recommend?

  • O'Hana (and LapuLapu)
    Chef Mickey
    • Be Our Guest
      • Hollywood and Vine
        • Tusker House

hmmmm....wonder why all the things I think of are food related?? eek

To me it would be the two that I have scheduled on my next trip, and that would be O'Hanas and Be Our Guest. Chef Mickey's rates down on my list because of all the Rug-Rats, curtain climbers and ankle biters sarcastic silly in attendance that makes it so loud that I would rather attend another buffet where they serve the same food items but a tad quieter. We may try the last two on your list during our trip.

We've been to all that you suggest and I recommend all! Vettelover is correct about the Chef Mickey's with all the kids running around but I enjoy watching the faces of the kids when they see the characters for the first time. Priceless! O'Hanas at night is awesome.. food is fab!! The character breakfast at O'hana's is wonderful too. Hollywood & Vine has a great character breakfast as well.. but my favorite character breakfast is Tusker House. Just enjoy the atmosphere better, the food is awesome and you get to spend time with Mickey, Minnie, Daisy, Donald and Goofy. (I'm a big kid at heart). Be our Guest is too good to put in words and seeing the Beast is a topper! Enjoy your trip!

Dear, you give me way too much credit. After all it was you who introduced me to the Disney Dream and her sisters.

Of course, by going with me you have met several of the Disney security people, the happy folks at the Fort Wilderness Laundromat, and you have learned the finer points of grocery shopping at the Hess gas stations inside of WDW.

You've also seen where they wash the trains, the monorails, and the buses. Do I know how to show a girl a good time or what?

And what about a few trips ago when you got to see the big emergency generator behind the Wilderness Lodge Villas? That's not in any guide book.

On second thought, a few suggestions from the board might be a good idea.

Vettelover, you forgot the bird droppings on the pizza at Chef Mickeys.

My vote is OHana!

Chef Mickey's is a total skip for me, but I love Ohana for dinner.

Be Our Guest is at least a try once restaurant. My dinner experience wasn't bad, just a bit more pricier then I thought it would be. I haven't tried lunch yet. Tusker House was good for dinner.

There are birds living in the CR atrium. There is no roof over Chef Mickeys.

Just connecting the dots.....

Quite simply because, FOOD IS AWESOME! It's what our entire trip in November is planned around. We also have a couple absolute FAVORITES in Orlando off property that we will be hitting!

We've never been to O'Hanna but it sound nice. As for the rest, we've to each a few times. Chef Mickeys is good to meet the Fab Five in costume, the food..... In generally ok. Never found any 'unexpected ingredients' so far. The carved meat, veggies and mash are awesome, but the rest is average, but still good. We went to Hollywood and Vine for lunch it was ok but Sci-Fi and 50's are my go-to joints in DHS. We tried Be are Guest last year to see what all the fuss was about. Got to say its pretty nice and well themed inside, unique ordering and delivery system but the food was ok, I think I expected a bit more. Don't get me wrong, it was good but I think most of the hype is around the theming not the food.

Tucker House has some really good meat and some other interesting dishes, but the beef is the star, especially with the African Mustard. Plus Safari Mickey and Goofy aren't to be missed.

My take on these:

O'Hana (and LapuLapu) - You can do breakfast or dinner. Food is very good, but it can be a meat overload. I myself have never had a Lapu Lapu. Service is usually good, but I've never had anyone exceptional or memorable. Couples, they seem to want to push to get done where as a group they tend to let nest more. Characters are Lilo and Stitch, Mickey & Pluto for breakfast.

Chef Mickey - Been there, done that, don't have any plans to go back in the near future! It does have the good character potential, but not worth it to us to go back. The food is buffet food you can get at any of the other buffets. Nothing special, but you do have that chance of getting something special dropped from the heavens!

Be Our Guest - The food here is good for dinner. We have been here several times for dinner, but things can be kind of overly salty sometimes. I love the mussel's and the short rib. I do agree with other in saying the theming is what makes this restaurant more than the food. We did lunch once and was not really a fan at all. The food seemed to have been sitting around for a while, although it was delivered to our table extremely fast, (this was during the Beta Testing for the new delivery system). We may have to try it again for lunch.

Hollywood and Vine - We have never eating here yet.

Tusker House - (You can get early entrance to the park) Good buffet food, very noisy, great character interaction, "TOUR GROUPS"!!!. If you want pretty much the same food without the commotion, go to Boma.

I am restricted to NO CHARACTER MEALS! especially if I want to eat with DH. When our sons are along, we also need a sit down every day, but this time, with F&W (and beer!) we are shifting to enjoy some 2 credit dining.
