Where My Girls At? Princess 1/2 Marathon Weekend Trip

mickey PRE-TRIP mickey

Who: Kristen (that's me!), Tori (my 18 year old daughter), Bekah (my BFF AKA Becks534), Jackie & Traci (two of my best bloggy buddies)

What: 5 Nights in Orlando, 3 Day Park Tickets and the Royal Family 5K!

When: Tori and I leave 2/22/2012 at 2AM!! Our flight doesn't leave until 6am, but we have to be there 2 hours before and it takes us 2 hours to get there, so 2AM it is! SHould I even bother going to sleep the night before if I have to wake up at 1AM?

Where: Global Resort Homes is my generous sponsor for accommodations, but I don't know what complex we'll be in yet. I should get that information next week and I'm praying that it doesn't go horribly wrong. I haven't stayed off property since I was a little girl, so we'll see how it goes.

Transportation: United Airlines & a Rental Car! This is the first time I've driven in Disney so I'm kind of nervous!

I must say that this may be the least prepared I have ever been for a trip. LoL... I'm going to be doing my best to stay laid back and relaxed about. I'll be playing JeffC's drinking game the entire time. Hrmmm... maybe I should designate a different driver.

Yesterday I got the packing bug and went shopping. I generally dress in business/resort casual at Disney, but I'm going to try and be a little more low key this time. I bought a Tshirt and a light sweater set to wear with jeans. I couldn't relax all that much though because just about everything is navy blue. I've noticed that I sort of pack in color themes. I know, it's weird. It started out being a photography thing, and I think it's just turned into some bizarre OCD symptom. I'm going to use some packing cubes that were sent to me by Eagle Creek to test out, if they work I'm sure that there will be a future article about their wonderfulness. If not, I'm glad that I didn't have to pay for them!! LoL...

Most of the vacation expenses have been taken care of, except for food. LoL... Tori has told me that she's okay if all she can eat for the week is Dole Whips. Hopefully our food budget will be a little more robust than that! We don't don't have all of our meals planned out. Like I said, I'm trying to be more laid back.

ADRS Include: California Grill, Via Napoli, OHana & Whispering Canyon
Counter Service Plans: Earl of Sandwich

Today's vacation prep includes going to the gym for an hour to train for the 5K which I am not ready for in any way shape or fashion and will probably be swept. However! I have decided that it doesn't matter if I make it or not because I'll be in Disney and having fun with my girls!

Wow, it's came on so fast! I can't believe you are leaving in just a few weeks! It sounds like it's going to be such a fantastic time! I can't wait to follow along and make sure you take lots of pictures and report back to us!

Hey, packing a lot of the same colors will make it easier to dress and combine outfits! awesome

I will be sure to take lots of photos! I'll be shoving cameras in Tori & Bekah's hands as well so I get many different perspectives. I'll probably upload every night because I only have one card per camera.
yay
I know that you've stayed with Global before, do you know if all the homes have internet? I didn't even think to ask! We get our assignment next week! I'm also doing the #VisitKiss thing, which I'm really nervous about!
yay
I bought a new cocktail dress today and it's not even blue!

Yay for you and the girls! I can't wait to hear all about it and see pics! They don't usually sweep in the 5k do they? I didn't think there was a pace requirement.

Oh man, how I would loooovvvveee to crash your dinner at Cali Grill.

There is a pace requirement but it's not strictly enforced. 16 minute mile is what they say your pace needs to be, but I did Halloween at a 20 minute pace and they let me finish (and all the folks still behind me). They don't often sweep in the 5K's but I'm sure that at some point they would have too.

Though, having the route go through the through a park, once you're in there you're kind of in there. I think that they may set up a sweep point before entering Epcot and then possibly at the International Gateway. Once you're through there though there wouldn't really be anyplace else they could sweep you too!

It's Here! yay It's Here!! yay It's Disney Day!! yay

My alarm was set to go off at 2am, however I guess that I was to excited to sleep because I woke up at 1am. Seriously, my husband hadn't even gone to sleep yet. So, I hopped into the shower and started to get ready. The Town Car will be here at 3am (CST) to take us to the airport and I'll be on the ground in MCO by 9:30 (EST)!! WHoo hoo!! Come fly with me, lets fly, lets fly away...

It's 2am and my daughter (Tori) just woke up. She's starting a pot of coffee for us. I need this vacation so badly and it's finally here!

We're having a great time! Well, except for Roachzilla (easily 2-3 inches long) that was waiting for us in the front hall when we got home last night! 3 Women screaming and trying to figure out which was brave enough to get rid of the thing! We put a bowl over the top of it to give us a "safe" minute to think about it and he escaped!! The screaming started all over again. laugh

Dinner at California Grill was simply amazing, the best meal I've had there so far, and the French Martini was so right up my alley. It was great to watch Chef Brian P. at the expedite station making it all work. He's amazing! The food was brilliant.

Afterwards we took a monorail ride and then headed up to the Top of the World (by far my favorite Disney Lounge) ot view Wishes. I got some video of Wishes, I hope it came out!

Today we're headed to the Magic Kingdom (eventually, right now we're sitting around in our jammies) and I pick up Two more Princesses from the airport and train station to join us!

Oh and please tell me someone had some sushi from the Cali!, I'm sitting here eating some pre-packaged spicy tuna roll that just does not cut it, even trying to imagine its at the Cali.

Just to clarify on Roachzilla - no, he didn't move the bowl but he could have! He was certainly heavy enough to bend the paper I'd slipped under the bowl to relocate him. He started to skitter under the paper, I dropped it and (much as it pains me to admit to it) we all screamed. Lesson learned - use cardboard! Roachzilla was summarily recaptured and firmly shown the door. I will never understand why a giant flying roach is called a Palmetto bug. yuck
