Which water park is the best?

During our trip in September, our boys want to hit one of the water parks. We have never been to either. My oldest son and DH are daredevils and love the thrills, I like to take it a bit easier. Which water park is the best, and what is the best pricing option? Can you pay just for the day? We have 5 day park hopper tickets so I doubt we would have much time to add the water parks and more option or even if it would be worth it to us.

I've been to both and they're both quite nice, but I prefer Blizzard Beach. In addition to the lazy river, they also have a water slide that doesn't aggravate my motion sickness issues, and the ski lift ride is cool. Also, Blizzard Beach has Summit Plummet, the really high almost-vertical drop slide, as well as another slide that's almost as extreme; on our last trip they kept the 20-somethings in my sister's family entertained. So that park seems a good choice for your thrill seekers and the more laid-back in your family.

You can pay for just one day, my sister and her family did. I can't tell you what it costs because hubby and I are still working off the last minor-park visits on our no-expiration passes from three years ago.

Both are great places. My wife and I love both equally. Here are the highlights.

Blizzard Beach:

-A great theme that the whole park adheres to.
-2 high performance slides
-The queue for "summit plummit" is one of the only places in all of WDW where you have a 360 degree view of WDW. You can see MK, AK, Epcot and HS from there. It's pretty amazing to see how big it all really is.
-Great lazy river
-good tube rides
-relaxing bay

Typhoon Lagoon

-Gorgeous tropical style layout. Great landscaping and theming.
-Snorkel Pool (swim with sharks and other sea life)
-HUGE wave pool
-Slusher Gusher (a high performance tube ride... not as thrilling as "summit plummet" @ BB)
-Lazy River
-Beautiful white sand areas to lounge in.

Thanks so much for the insight! I am ultimately going to let the boys decide but this really helps! As long as I have the lazy river, I'm good to go!

I like TL better. The atmosphere is better IMO. It always seems less crowded. Wave pool is the coolest thing ever and if you've never experienced it, you must do it once! Lots of shade too.

BB is fun and cool too, but it's a lot of concrete and not many shady areas like TL. It doesn't feel very relaxing to me.

Both have really cool water rides...can't go wrong with either one!

I like TL because of the snorkel pool! It's so awesome to swim with the sharks (they aren't very big, but they are in there!)

I'm probably to late for this, but we were getting a 6 night hotel stay with 5 day hopper pass and the travel agent told me that for $106 the whole family could upgrade to a 7 day hopper pass to include the water parks! So we will get a good half day first day somewhere, most likely at a water park and it would be cheaper than trying to buy 5 tickets and we get to hit a few rides on the day out too! yay
