I cannot WAIT to see POTC4 - can't get enough of Captain Jack - but I doubt we'll brave the opening weekend crowds. Will you see Pirates today or this weekend? In 3D or plain ol' plain?

Yeah... I think were going tonight. Just seeing it in regular 2D. Cant stand the 3D stuff to be honest. I just hope it goes back to how the first one was. The second and third one was just to weird. Especially when Captain Jack died.... that was just weird....

We'll probably wait for DVD on this one. I didn't love 2 or 3 and the reviews of 4 are only so-so. I always like films with high production values on the big screen though, so it's still a possibility.
We saw it last night. It wasn't as good as the first three for me, but I still enjoyed it. There aren't as many twists in the plot as the earlier movies and some of it is a bit predictable. Penelope Cruz makes a great lady pirate and they've left things nicely for another movie, would another be a step too far though?
AND YOU MUST STAY UNTIL THE VERY END OF THE CREDITS. I'd heard about this and stayed, there were only 6 people left by the time we got to the end.
I can only please one person per day. Today isn't your day... tomorrow doesn't look good either.

I saw it! I liked it, thought it was a fun movie. I had heard bad reviews so went in expecting it to be bad. I was pleasantly surprised. 
I'm so bummed I didn't stay until the end!

Did you say Johnny Depp in 3-D?!?! Where are my keys?

I honestly didnt care for it. The only redeeming factor for me was Johnny Depp to be honest. I could watch that character all day. But I hate what they did to Barbosa. Black Beard wasnt threatening... I thought Davie Jones was much cooler and more threatening. Shoot... I thought Barbosa was scarier than Black Beard. Didnt care for the story at all... and the whole "love connection" bit I thought was a bit corny (would say more, but dont want to give anything away, probably said too much as is)...
As for a sequel.... dont expect Johnny Depp. He got suckered into doing this one and wasnt happy to do it. He signed on with the old director on board or something like that, and then Disney got rid of the director, and Depp was pissed. He was actually notified about the change before he donned as Captain Jack when making the announcement about 4. So I dont know... I think they should had stopped at 3, but I did enjoy 4 more than 3.

Thanks for the tip, Tony! I assume everyone knows that you have to stay to the end of 3 all the way through the credits, too, right??
And, as an aside...Loved 1, liked 2, very much liked 3 (but I did a ton of reading on forums to sort out the plot, so maybe that's why I liked it more than most), and like I said, I'm predisposed to like 4...but I will miss Will/Elizabeth. They had just gotten interesting at the end of 3!
The thing is... he loves the character... but he was just so mad they got rid of the director he wanted.

I think the Will/Elizabeth plot line had pretty much run it's course. They could easily bring back Will and the Flying Dutchman though as he's supposed to be still at sea for a few years yet.

yep - I don't know what else interesting they could've done with them. But I agree - Will could EASILY make a cameo in upcoming installments.

For me the action scenes were like a carbon copy of the first film. Cruze and Depps fight reminded me so much of Depps and Blooms fight, and so on.

Dave and I were talking today and we just celebrated our 8th anniversary (of dating not being married) and we were talking about how one of first dates was to Pirates of the Caribbean the Curse of the Black Pearl...it kind of shocked me that it was 8 years ago..it doesn't seem that long ago!
The baby is going to grandma's next week so we are going to try and see it then.
