Worst rides for Seniors

I was trying to think of what the worst rides are in WDW for seniors. I actually think Space Mountain is a pretty bad ride for seniors. It's difficult to get in and out of and it jerks around quite a bit. I have a bad back and I'm always conscious of it when I'm on that ride. I certainly don't think it's "undo-able" at any age, just one of the more difficult to deal with.

Hmm...interesting question. Makes me think about spinny rides, mostly...like the teacups...

I tend away from "torque" more than just spinning. Like teacups aren't too bad cause the spinning is "smooth", but Primeval Whirl is a good example of where the spinning comes with sharp changes. Overall though I just find the "jerking" to be the biggest drag (hence my vote for Space Mountain).

If you ride in the front, BTMRR is a MUCH tamer experience IMO.

Primeval whirl is at least easy to get in and out of. Hopefully part of Space Mountain's refurb will be easier access. (Although I will miss the old-schooliness of how it is now).

I know the "grandma's" (mine and my husband's) both HATED Test Track, while my grandpa loved it. I think it had something to do with messing up their hair!

Ah...I remember back when I had hair to get messed up on rides. One of the advantages of losing your hair!

As an almost senior, Mision Space at Epcot is a big NO and sadly the Rock n Rollercoaster is nearly off the list as well. I can still manage the Tower. For a variety of reasons we haven't done Expedition Everest yet, but Space Mountain is still ok. You are right though, you should have a good back for that one. Michael helped pull me out the last time and it was tsill a blast to ride. Thankfully he's younger and in better shape so a big help when I get when the joints and muscles won't cooperate.

Mission Space is a great "avoid" suggestion for people. I've never done the "tamer" side. Is it okay for seniors?

I think it'd be okay for most seniors. Of course, everyone's different. Even some "young folks" don't enjoy the ride... sad

Certainly not good for severe claustrophobics! I have a mild case and can handle it though.

Good morning!

When I first rode Expedition Everest, I thought it was like a Big Thunder Mountain on steroids. Might not be real good for seniors.

That's a good point. It's quite "jerky" and the backwards motion is nauseating to say the least...

I have a lot of problems with Expedition Everest on the part that goes backwards. I get sick and it hurts my neck.

I've heard that from a lot of people. Interestingly, I'd say that of the "thrill rides," that the Tower of Terror might actually be the best for seniors or those with health problems. It's so smooth and the stops are not jarring at all. Anyone disagree?

I've actually found Tower of Terror to be a favorite among the older set. It's fun, well themed and there's really no discomfort associated with it at all. I've always been reluctant to recommend RnRC for seniors, but I have a very frail aunt who rode it and said it was no big deal.

Astro-Orbiter is another ride that's a bit difficult to get into and out of. We had some amusing experiences when it was wet and we weren't sure if we'd ever get out.

Astro-orbiter is definitely very "old school" in that it's not very convenient for those who aren't particularly mobile. Between the elevator, the bad line layout and the lack of anything to help get in the actual vehicles, I'd put it very low on my rides for seniors, or those who don't walk/climb well.

I was thinking the Rock-n-Rollercoaster was on this list, but I just found out several of my older relatives have done this one. What do you guys think?

I feel like RnRC is a little rough on the neck, but that might just be me.

I would say it's at the rougher end of the spectrum. I'd be reluctant if I had any neck/back problems.

For whatever reason I have a memory of thinking that that ride would be a bad one for Seniors as well.

You actually kind of get pushed into the outside as you spin. Not necessarily a tremendously comfortable ride if you ask me. Great view though.
