Would you ever do a Holiday trip?

We've batted around a few times the idea of getting the whole family together at Disney World for Christmas. Are there any holidays or family events you've ever considered doing at WDW?

It would be very hard to arrange for Christmas, but I'd love to get our whole family together for a Halloween-time trip.

Christmas no...we have too many set in stone family traditions that would just feel weird if we weren't together. Maybe one day when our family is a little older & more established...
Halloween..totally! I love WDW in October..I would love to go with everyone then! Even Thanksgiving wouldn't be too bad..but the crowds might deter me.

Was it just you guys, or did you go with family?

First two weeks of December are the best! Although I fear that's becoming common knowledge and the crowds are going up.

Diddo!

Yes we have been throwing around the idea of going for Christmas, just me and Scrappy. Waking up in Disney on Christmas morning, that would be the ultimate present I think. yay awesome

Just have to get it into our kids heads that we are NOT GOING TO BE HOME!

I did that once...and I was probably about your age, or maybe a little younger. My grandmother up and announced that she was SICK of cooking turkey, that she was doing something else - a pork roast with cranberry orange glaze. I spent the entire season bitter, making snarky remarks. And - I hate to admit this - but it was one of the best things I ever ate for a holiday. AND we went back to turkey the next year. There might be a life lesson here, Bella...then again, maybe there isn't biggrin

Haha! Dave's family has always done Christmas at his grandmothers. The year before we got married his cousin wanted to have it at her house..so they did..and all the kids (there are about 6..including Dave) whined the entire time. She's never mentioned doing it again.

I would actually love to go for Christmas, but my husband can't get off work ever during that time.

We did Christmas when Evan was one or so.... never again. Never again... one of the worst Disney experiences I have ever had. We werent even on property either. My Mom's side of the family rented a house that was like 40 minutes away... which was a bad idea as well. It was bad enough trying to get over 30 people on the same page, then add Disney on the Hollidays... was just mass chaos. If I did do it again... we would just stick to our Resort, and probably just do stuff at resorts and Downtown Disney... when you get a 2 hour wait for Small World... you know its busy.

That would be pretty magical. I love Christmas, and it would be cool to be in the Magic Kingdom on Christmas day... how were the crowds?

You know, I always pooh-poohed a Christmas trip--but I've been doing some price research lately and discovered that the week before Christmas is actually slightly cheaper than late May. It's a horrible time for us to go as Dave works in the Wine Industry and that's a busy time for him.

He does! He was a teacher for awhile but left that two years ago and now works in a wine store..he does wine and beer tastings. He loves it.
