Were these once in a lifetime, or will they return? Any info would be much appreciated, as I think this might be a big selling point for me.

thanks!

Wow, that would be really interesting. Do they not offer them currently?

They are cruising the Med in 2010 again for a few months. I haven't seen the pricing yet. We had friends who did the TransAtlantic and friends who did the actual Med. Here's a summary -

TransAtlantic - multiple days at sea, cheaper cost, one port last time (I think), and you get to go to Castaway Cay.
Med - frequent stops, more expensive, obviously no Castaway Cay

Sales were slow on the TransAtlantic portion last time. Since I have a travel business on the side, I received an email a couple of months before sailing and they were practically GIVING the TA portion away. I don't recall the exact figure, but I think it was less than half of the original asking price.

As attractive as that is, I'm not sure I'd do a TA cruise, but thats personal preference. I like stopping at various ports and seeing some different scenery. As much as I love the DCL experience, many, many days at sea might be a bit much for me.

Keep in mind, also, that if they go back to the west coast, there will be two Panama Canal cruises. We had friends on one of those too, and they had a blast!

I've always really like the idea of a TransAtlantic cruise; no idea why. And I'm not sure I should do one before taking a shorter cruise to get my sea legs and see if I really like crusing. Can you imagine being on a TA cruise and realizing the first day that you hate being on that ship?

And the Med cruises seem to be a combo of my favorite things--Europe and Disney. So they've always held appeal. I look forward to checking out the 2010 cruises (when will they be advertised do you think?).

MT, is there a good link about the Panama Canal cruises? I would have no idea what to expect. If you don't have a good link in mind, I'll go search; just thought you might know the right one to check out.

Thanks!

I would check DISBOARDS. I remember at the time they had a ton of threads and trip reports.

They have webcams at the Panama Canal, and I remember on the return trip watching the ship go through. THAT was cool, while reading posts from people all over the ship.
