Ikea - danger!!! I did manage to lose our cart...and we had to start over again. I'm convinced someone borrowed it - Joe's convinced I am old and ready for the home... wheelchair

WE also saw Frankenweenie on Friday night! Imax 3D even! Was fun.

Ikea = evil

HATED IT! It's like Disney World without the rides but has the huge crowds!

You must be settling in since you have time to get on here now. How is Joe doing with the food stuff? Does he have any plans yet?

Ugh! I am *so* happy to put that weekend behind us. The whole youth group thing turned out to be a giant disaster after one of the girls had her feelings hurt and the Mom went off on everyone. Oh my God the drama. I thought I would sleep it off last night but no, it's all still in my head. I have got to shake this feeling.

I spent the weekend with the mother of all head colds. Tis the season and Kristen I know what you are talking about drama. Last weekend was my womens retreat in Bethany Beach, DE. Seven women in a church van - 8.5 hours down and 10.5 hours back I wanted to kill myself or someone else. Never again!

Good evening!

Had a good, even great weekend. Friday: Worked 7:30 am-6:00 pm EDT; then my friend Pam and I went to Olive Garden for dinner and then food shopping at ACME. Saturday: Went on a AAA bus trip, "A Slice of Brooklyn Pizza Tour*. Two slices of plain pizza and soda (or pop) at both Grimaldi's in northern Brooklyn and at L&B Spumoni Gardens in the Bensonhurst section of southern Brooklyn. The day included a multimedia (DVD) tour of some of the actual locations of scenes from the movies Annie Hall, Saturday Night Fever, Goodfellas and Scent of a Woman. Learned that Brooklyn has 2.5 million people living on only 72.5 square miles; that the F-word was used 496 times in Goodfellas; that, according to our tour guide Paula, the Bee Gees' song "Stayin' Alive", the theme to Saturday Night Fever, is considered by many Brooklynites to be the national anthem; that the Brooklyn Bridge is 128 years old this year; and that Grimaldi's' coal oven used to bake a pizza in three minutes at 900degF was grandfathered as an exception to a New York City law that permits only wood-burning ovens for pizza. After I got home, Pam and I went to a small-group Bible study. Sunday: Church, where I sang several songs with the lead worship team as many members of our choir were absent; then I watched some football at home. Pam came and we studied the book of Zechariah at halftime of the Eagles-Steelers game before snuggling a bit during the second half, as much for warmth because I had the heat off, as for affection. Dateless since 1/4/2009 and unattached since 6/11/2008, I'd missed that and it felt good. Then we went with Pam's parents to Cracker Barrel for dinner and then to a "Discerning the Truth" class studying Scientology, the celebrity (Kirstie Alley, Tom Cruise and John Travolta are among its adherents) "religion" that L. Ron Hubbard founded in Los Angeles in 1954 because he couldn't make money as a science fiction writer. Monday: a whole lotta nuthin'. Went to Five Guys for a late lunch and to ACME for lunch meat. Listened to the following CDs:

Tomaso Albinoni: Concerti Opera (the plural of opus) 9 and 10 (2 CDs each);
Luther Allison: Soul Fixin' Man;
Allman Brothers: Beginnings; Brothers and Sisters (1 CD each); Cow Palace 12/31/1973 (entire five-hour concert on four CDRs).

Yeah and I corrected essays. 5 hours on Sunday. No football, no mocking of L. Ron Hubbard, no fun at all.

I took a couple of pictures of those hard-to-find-leaves that bring the leaf peepers to NH on my way to the dump Saturday morning. And I finished the built-in bookcase I started in March.

I would have had much more fun doing that than Ikea. Im telling ya... that place was horrible for an agoraphobe. Disney gets to me every once in a while... but its a happy place and thus makes me happy. Ikea. They trap you in there like a rat trying to find the cheese... but there is no cheese.... just more crap!

Dude... that bookcase is awesome man. How big of a TV will fit in it?

Thanks, Mase. A 50" will just barely fit, so I'll probably go with a 46". I am vey happy with the BestBuy store brand TV (Insignia) I bought for the kitchen a while back and they have a 46" for $499 (the 50" version is the same price), so that's what I'll probably go with.

Its pretty tough now these days to buy a bad tv to be honest. HDTV's have come a long way. Me... im picky. I watch tons of college football and hockey (Not so much hockey right now... grumble grumble.....) so I go with plasma. Love the 600 refresh rate.... heh

So do I! Last week we were in the MK, and it was 85 degrees. Today it's 40 degrees here, and I have a ton of leaf raking to do!

Hoorah the weekend! 4 days left until I leave for Disney.

My kids had their DeMolay Chapter Halloween Party last night. My son and his girlfriend were crowned 'King and Queen of Halloween." He wore his Perry the Platypus closet cosplay.

Pulling everything together for the party was stressful because some people backed out and some got sick, so pretty much everything fell on my family. We had 20 people (half of my original expectation) and ended up with two State Officers joining us, so that was great! I think that everyone had a pretty good time. We didn't get home until late and I'm exhausted today.

African greys? cool,.. I had a (supposed) breeding pair for a while, sold them when my daughter was born, stuck to the smaller parrots.

We had a Timneh African Grey for 10 years, but my husband started having health issues and nearly died. Ultimately it was traced back to an allergy of the bird. We gave him to a friend and they love him, even better we can still see him now and again. My husband's health has much improved.
