Cirque du Soleil’s ‘La Nouba’ Set to Celebrate 15th Anniversary this Month

After 15 years, Cirque du Soleil's La Nouba is still going strong.

This show celebrates its anniversary later this month, and the it still includes about 10 performers from its opening, original cast. Two of those performers are Sergey and Balto, the clowns who open the show.

The duo was paired by Gilles Ste-Croix, the co-creator of Cirque du Soleil. Balto is French-Canadian, and Sergey is deaf but they haven't let any communication barriers get in the way. They have been entertaining the crowds with their acts since the show's beginning.

Balto and Sergey had created 120 acts during several months of show prep before La Nouba opened, and Cirque's creative director Franco Dragone chose five to feature. These are the same five acts the duo performs today.

The clowns have nearly 60 years of experience between them and recently said in a Disney Parks Blog article that there's nothing else they'd rather be doing.

The official 15th anniversary of La Nouba is December 23. The show is celebrating the anniversary with a pre-show moment at the 6 p.m. performance on December 18. For tickets call 407-WDW-SEAT or visit the Cirque du Soleil Box Office at Downtown Disney West Side.
