Searching for the Winnie the Pooh ‘Storyteller of the Year’

Earlier this week, Disney Consumer Products launched a nationwide search for their Winnie the Pooh "Storyteller of the Year." The contest celebrates parents and guardians who use storytelling to teach life lessons and foster their child's creativity.

To enter the contest, families must create a one-minute video as they read a Winnie the Pooh story to their children, while using their favorite Pooh items. The "props" can include plush toys, puppets, blankets, or any other Pooh items the family chooses. Videos can be submitted online at or from your mobile device. Parents and guardians interested in entering the contest can choose from three Winnie the Pooh stories " A Blustery Day, Happy Mother's Day, and A Bouncy Babysitter. Contest entries are being accepted from now until May 15.

"Pooh teaches us about friendship, adventure, and to appreciate the simple things in life," said Stephen Teglas, vice president of classic franchises for Disney Consumer Products. "Through the 'Storyteller of the Year' contest we hope to capture some of these sweet family moments and encourage parents to use their best storytelling abilities to spark their child's imagination and create long-lasting memories."

After the contest closing date, Disney Consumer Products will choose the winning video and the grand prize winning family receives a trip for four to Los Angeles and an assortment of Winnie the Pooh products. The winner will be crowned "Storyteller of the Year" on June 9 at the "PLUSH: the posh little urbanites show." And, the winning video will be included in an upcoming version of Disney's Winnie the Pooh: Wonder and Wander app.
