Best resorts for different times of year?

Someone on another thread mentioned that the poly would be a great place to visit when it's cold in other parts of the country. Which resorts are the best for other parts of the year?

Caribbean Beach is another good one for coming from a cold climate.

I always like to stay in the wilderness lodge when it's chilly in Florida.

Beach Club always struck me as a strange one to visit when it's cold in Florida!

The Stormalong bay resorts (Yacht/Beach) might be a bad idea during the summer too.

I remember my dad talking to a farmer from the north on a January trip in the early 80's. (He was Michigan or Wisconsin or Minnesota...)

We were sitting in the lobby area at the Poly and this guy (who was staying a week) had called home and learned that it was below freezing for yet another day. He told my dad, that decides it. I'm staying another week, and he went over to the desk and made the arrangements.

I've always like that story.

Ditto. That place is perfect for Christmas in Disney.

I agree. Its usually cold enough to hang meat in there, and to sit in front of that fireplace is GREAT!!!

They used to serve "canyon coffee" out there and that made a nice addition to the scenario.

I think people from the northern states enjoy Disney World just that much more because it's so much nicer during the winter than wherever they would be otherwise.

We tried to extend our stay once and everything was booked. We had made he mental decisions to go ahead and stay and we couldn't get a room anywhere. It's kind of a drag when you think you're staying for a couple more days and it turns out you're not.

No kidding? Was that at Christmas time? I can't imagine another time that all the hotels would be completely booked up.

It was actually in June. It was interesting, because it wasn't busy for the first few days we were there, and then on Sunday a horde descended on us, the parks were packed and couldn't get a room anywhere to extend.

Probably not going to have a ton of fun staying anyway if it's that busy.

That might have been the beginning of the summer season. Still amazing to think that every hotel on property was booked up.
