The tours are seemingly associated with the dining reservation system, but so far they can't be booked online (bummer). Given that they are managed like ADR's, I think that Sally-Anna and Mark are probably spot on at 180 days.

Side note: we're narrowing down our restaurants and we want to do a tour at DL in March. I read that they are 60 days for dining and 30 days to tour booking! Unheard of! How am I supposed to wait that long waiting wink

Mrferret, I'm also thinking about a couple of tours. Curious what you're going to book and also wondering if they can be decided on at the last minute. Not sure if they are as popular as the restaurants/ADRs. Let us know how it goes with getting what you want.

The only tour we've been able to book online was the all day Backstage Magic Tour. At the time (September 2011), I followed a link from the WDW page directly to The Disney Institute and booked it there. We booked 4 months out for that one. All others we have called to book.

I've successfully booked tours at about 2 months out, but we tried to get Marceline to MK for this past trip. We did not attempt to book it until we were already on property and it was sold out for all three time slots for each of the four days it was going to be offered during our trip. By contrast, they practically beg people to take the Behind the Seeds tour and there is always tons of same-day registration.

When you book make sure write down the confirmation number you're given & repeat it back to make sure you've got it written down correctly. Tours & the Pirates & Pals Fireworks Voyage don't show up MDE, the system doesn't email you a confirmation & the cm's can't email a confirmation either. And if you have or are getting an annual pass, are DVC or have a Disney Visa mention it when you book as it may qualify you for a discount.
