Disney hits capacity in parks and turns away guests

I can only imagine how packed it must have been there. People that we knew that were there waited 1 1/2 hrs to get from the parking lot and into Magic Kingdom. Most of the rides were 120-140 min wait. Nothing that I would ever want to experience.

Was in the Magic Kingdom on Christmas day several years ago and heard that it had been 'closed' to new arrivals from about 11:30 until . . . Gosh, we were waiting to have dinner at Crystal Palace at 4:30 and some other folks waiting for seating (without ADRs, poor souls) were talking about the crush of people wanting in but being turned away.

We were having too much fun to really notice - have been in the summer when crowds can be surreal, too, BUT we did notice getting the stink eye from the assembled masses when we walked up to the CP about 15-20 minutes before our seating and almost walked right in. The Disney pixie dust was certainly on our side at that moment. . .

Holy wait-time, Batman!

Saw it re-tweeted by TheDIS a little bit ago....assuming it's legit/real. Could it really be that long??! And I'm trying to picture where the end of that line might be...I think I would ride Living with the Land 24 times instead....ha!

But this happens almost every year at this time. The period between Christmas and New Year has always been packed, and attendance records are often set at this time.

I pity people who don't go to WDW or Disneyland Resort very often, or who are making their very first trip, who make their trip during this time. Most of the complaints about Disney theme parks being packed, or hot (summer holiday months) often come from such folks who can't visit the theme parks during other times of the year.

OMG. I still can't believe that people would get in a line longer than 60 min. Basically you are spending half a day on one ride. You're right Jeff, I wonder where the end of that line was. It was probably up the stairs and out the door.

Call me crazy but why on earth do people go during this time? I remember once when I was younger sitting in line in traffic on the INTERSTATE trying to get to Magic Kingdom during this week. I think I was 7 and smart enough to think, "never again!". Christmas at Disney is a nice thought..just not for this girl!

wow! I would take my kids out of school for a week in the middle of the school year when attendance is at its lowest just to avoid the crowds.. I dont know what would be fun about going to Disney and standing in line for 2 hours to ride 1 ride... to each his own I guess.

A certain talk radio host that I know wrote in her latest book about going to Disney. She HATED it, mostly because she was there during this time and had experiences like this. Nobody, especially on their first time, is going to like Disney when it is a 240 minute wait to get on a ride.

I'm not surprised, because I've had a similar type of comment coming back at me from a friend. In return, I told him that going to WDW during those times is similar to going to Times Square in NY on New Year's Eve night. Did he think that was the "natural" state of Times Square all year long?

After that, it kinda shut him up.

Thats what we do every year. We usually dont ride a ride if its 30 minutes long! Unless its TSM! lol
