Doubletree Hotel

Before my Disney trip this summer my boyfriend and I are going to spend two days at Islands of Adventure, strictly for the Harry Potter park. I would love to stay in their hotels but they are very expensive for my new teacher income.

We saw the doubletree hotel online. They list there is an itrip bus or something to the parks and it is also ten minute walking distances.

As we are not looking for a great experience in our Universal hotel as we are in Disney, does anyone have any opinions on this hotel? Has anyone stayed here? I'd love to here what people have to say about it.

I'm classifying it as convenient, decent, and affordable based on webphotos.

I've not stayed in that Doubletree, but I have stayed in Doubletrees in general (don't know if you have) and they're usually pretty nice for the price. Also 10 minutes sounds like a reasonable walk, but I wonder how many busy streets you have to cross.

We've not stayed in the Double Tree but have stayed on I-Drive. The I-Trolley service runs about every 20 minutes on International Drive and is (iirc) $1.25 per trip. The service starts from the south end of I-Drive at 8am so the first one won't get to the Universal end until about 8.45/9.00, but the nearest stop to the Universal parks is still a good 20 mins walk from the gates.

My advice, unless cash is really tight, would be to grab a cab from your hotel to the parks.

You should be able to do almost everything worth doing in both parks in 2 days.

All I know about doubletrees is that they give you an AWESOME chocolate chip cookie when you check in!! I haven't stayed at that particular hotel, but doubletree is part of the Hilton brand and usually caters to business folks... It's usually a pretty reliable place.

Thanks for the I-drive info. I read a cab ride is about $5 dollars so itw on't break the bank. I wasn't sure what this shuttle service was like but most people mentioned cabs or walking so I was assuming it wasn't very reliable. Now I know.
