Farewell IllumiNations Merchandise hits Epcot

Lol - I guess any opportunity to sell some merchandise! Thanks Disney Food Blog for the info......

IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth will end its 20-year run as Epcot's nighttime spectacular on September 30, 2019.

And newly arrived in Epcot today is a line of "Farewell IllumiNations" merchandise for guests who wish to pick up a souvenir to remember this unique and beautiful fireworks, light, and laser show that has capped off fun days at Epcot since late 1999.

Right? They will always make a buck where they can. Oddly - I actually like this merchandise.

For the past several years Illuminations became a nice end of the day at Epcot. We would actually use the time to make our way out of either exit while the crowds watched the show. It was a comfortable ending to the day but not a must see. We have watched the evolution of the show from its beginnings were it actually showcased each country. The country would come to life with lights and music, spotlights would shine and then the next country would highlight. But I am old enough to remember when they had a parade.

It hasn't been since they announcement of the old show retiring that we started to get nostalgic about Illuminations. Last trip we stopped and watched and all got a bit emotional. They will sell out all the merchandise for this very reason. Then the owners will take it home and say, "where in the heck am I going to wear this"! Disney creates and thrives on memories, Illuminations has created memories for all who have visited.

We look forward to the new. The memories of the old will enhance the experience of the new. We cant wait.

IllumiNations has never been my favorite nighttime show. I would stop and watch, I liked it well enough, but it has been running for *SO* long I just didn't care. I am thrilled that all the shows seem to be getting updates and refreshed. I'm excited to see what new concepts are coming to World Showcase.

100% agree. We saw the new merchandise EVERYWHERE in Epcot when we were there last week. Not for me as I'm just not that big of a fan, but I'm super excited for the new shows coming!

I've been seeing lots of new country and attraction specific stuff popping up around Epcot! It makes me so happy because for quite awhile not it has all been so homogenized. I hated that two years ago I could buy the same Wine Tshirt in France, Canada, and Italy. Each country should be unique and I think the new attractions are helping to bring that.

OK - These farewell ears are kinda cute. Available at Mouse Gear in Epcot while supplies last.
