Favorite restauraunts?

Ok, so I never really researched food before my Disney trips. This time, when I go, I want to have a list of the best foods on property. I have never done So what are your top 3 favorite restaurants in each of these categories, and what do you get there (2nd part is optional)?

Character Dining? - Garden Grove, Askershus, and the Cinderella breakfast up in the castle. Also like Garden GRILL.
1 table service credit restaurants - If I picked one, it'd probably be the Sci-Fi Dine-in, but I don't remember many of these. We didn't do any on my most recent trip, just Garden Grove. We stayed in the parks the parks as much as possible (that will change next time!)
2 table service credit restauraunts
Table-service, in park?
Counter-service? - Casey's, Pecos Bill to name a few. This is what we ate at the parks.
Desert/Treats? - DOLE WHIP, Writer's Shop Chocolate Danish
Any other must haves that don't fit into these categories?

Thanks for sharing! I know it might take a while for you, but it'll help me (and probably others) a ton as I take the small steps to plan my vacation that is a year and a half away Smile

Your post just made me realize something..they accept the Disney Dining Plan EVERYWHERE, I mean as long as you have a table-service meal! I did not realize that. So you can get a $50 meal and that's already paid for your dining plan (approximately) for the day. That's crazy! I never even realized that.

Good morning,

May I chime in?

It's been a little less than five years since my last visit to WDW, but I will try to remember.

Character: Crystal Palace (MK); Liberty Tree Tavern (MK); 1900 Park Faire.

Table Service: see my user name; see above; Boma (AKL); 50's Prime Time Cafe (DHS); Yak and Yeti (AK); Kona Cafe. I miss the sweet potato pancakes I used to get at Boatwright's Dining Hall (POR) when it served breakfast.

Counter Service: Columbia Harbor House (MK); Flame Tree BBQ (AK); Dole Whip; Tangerine Cafe.

Sorry, can't remember much. At 49 (as of today!) I think I'm starting to lose my edge.

Old farts smell better than new ones.

Jim

Character Dining - We've never done character dining, but we're going to try a Tusker House lunch this October.

Table service - Restaurant Marrakesh is fun and not the kind of food we can get in our area. Same with Boma. I also like the Biergarten. We've never done a two-credit restaurant and probably never will - we have fine-dining restaurants here at home that cost half as much and probably are twice as good as most of the WDW two-credit restaurants.

Counter service - I love Sunshine Seasons at Epcot and can find something worth eating at most of the counter-service places in Epcot's World Showcase. Columbia Harbor House in MK is quite nice and Cosmic Ray's is better than average. None of the counter-service joints in DHS or AK really thrill me. Toy Story Pizza Planet isn't bad; neither is Yak & Yeti counter service.

Dessert/Treats - I'm not a huge fan of desserts. I've had a Dole Whip; it was good but nothing I'd go out of my way for.
