I was looking this morning for any announcement and my DH asked if I was disappointed. I repeated what our TA said, "Disney is NEVER without 'special offers.'" So we wait.
But I also realize a few other things.
I shared this on another thread here so I will make this brief because I don't go there often.
I watched my principal shot in front of me in the front hall of my school. I, along with others, gave first aide, but we didn't save him. That same morning on the way to school, a popular and talented junior boy was driving too fast and was killed on his way. That summer, I was diagnosed with late age onset of MS, now in remission, but it's always something you work to keep at bay.
At some point, if you are smart, you begin to step back and realize the gifts you have been given and time allowed to appreciate them.
1) I am truly grateful for what I do have - loving husband of over 30 yrs, 2 great kids/now talented adults, and we nowhave the chance to retire comfortably with hobbies and side careers that will keep us challenged and happy.
2) All our retirement plans fell in to place very quickly; house sold, we were able to rent our vacant church parsonage (while doing badly needed remodel)while waiting for this school year to end, and then we just signed on our retirement digs. We ordered new furniture for the living room because I was NOT moving the stuff we have that is old and worn out - and DH was excited (that never happens).
3) DS1 graduates Mother's Day weekend with his masters despite some emotional turmoil (he cancelled his wedding 6 wks before the event - we were actually relieved but that is another story). And for MD Sunday, the three men in my life are singing with me in our church, "I Hope You Dance." NO present beats that!
4) The Monday after MD is DH's last full choir concert (5-12) and he doesn't know that alumni far and wide, professional friends in music, teachers (past and present), all his current choirs, and family(large) are singing his favorite choral work; "Precious Lord, Take My Hand." No plaques or flowers to dry - just music. Perfect.
5)) DH and I are going to Disney in Sept with another couple we consider our close friends, who are almost newbies at Disney - should be a blast.
5) We are going to catch a couple days of F&W (&B).
My TA lost her mother-in-law yesterday, but because of her line of work, she is "on" all the time in order to make OUR trips magical, so I am not going to bother her anymore this week because I KNOW she will do her best for us while she deals with their family sorrow.
6) So if we land FD, or RD - yeah!!!!
7) If we don't, We are going to Disney - yeah!!!
Sometimes being happy just isn't that hard!
Thanks for letting me share....
