Oh wow!!!! I had no idea that was coming..I wonder if the mods and values will get it as well or if it will just be a perk for the deluxes. I wonder..hm..

I try to disconnect as much as possible on vacation though..I probably wouldn't be able to resist if it was free!

The rest of the mods and values are suppose to have it within 6 months.

That's good to know. I logged on a couple of times while visiting last year (within the same 24 hour period). I actually never got charged for it (shhhh.... don't tell anyone)

It's about time too!

I know that the DVC villas have had free wi-fi for at least a couple of years for DVC members. I can't believe Disney won't give free Wi-fi for the rest of their resorts, considering that most other resorts and hotels nowadays provide free in-room Wi-fi connections to their guests.

How Fantastic! I had been considering getting the Apple Airport for Vacations but I guess now I may not need to. I had actually asked about this at the front desk at the begining of the month and they told me that they knew nothing about it. Sneeky Disney keeping things quiet. Smile

That is excellent news! It doesn't benefit me for this trip, but I'm glad to see they're offering it at so many of their resorts.

Complimentary Wi-Fi Tested
Walt Disney World Resort has announced that it will be making complimentary wireless internet (Wi-Fi) service available in the rooms at a number of its hotels as of October 14. The hotels are: Animal Kingdom Lodge; Beach Club; BoardWalk; Contemporary; Coronado Springs; Grand Floridian Resort and Spa; Old Key West; Polynesian; Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa; Wilderness Lodge; and the Yacht Club. To connect to the network using a wireless-enabled device (e.g. laptop, cell phone, etc.), you'll notice a network option labeled "Guest - Access (unsecured)". When you click on that option, you will be taken to a screen that prompts you to accept the terms and conditions. After accepting the terms and conditions, you'll have complimentary Wi-Fi access. Note that for cell phone users, cellular carriers AT and T, Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile and MetroPCS are covered for Wi-Fi access. Complimentary in-room wired internet will also be available at these resorts until Octobert 24. If the testing for complimentary Wi-Fi is successful, the free availability will continue in the future. This will not affect the status of Disney Vacation Club members, who currently receive complimentary Wi-Fi.
allears reporting its only for 10 days but if successful it will continue. One has to assume it will be successful.

I can't imagine it not being successful, unless there are some sort of technical bugs that they'll have to iron out. People have been clamoring for this! awesome

I was just informed that the info allears is reporting is incorrect and that the free Wi Fi is here to stay. I guess only time will tell.

Well at SSR I was never able to get my laptop connected using the wireless, but cell phone and Ipad would connect. It was so slow though I switched back to using 3G. Wired connection with the laptop wouldn't even let me upload pictures. They definitely have some work to do here

I know when we go here in a couple weeks ill still be taking my 4G MiFi just in case. I cant imagine that the wireless internet there would be fast enough for what ill need there.

How much does it normally cost to connect to wi-fi at WDW resorts?

They haven't had wifi up to now...you had to tether to a wall Smile But I believe it was $10/day.

Hope the parks are next!! It would be soooo great to tweet around the world without using up my data plan!

CSR had wi fi but it was only in the common areas like the pool, main building and lounge. It was the same price, $9.95 for 24 contiguous hours or $4.95 per hour.

Wow! I was planning to bring my laptop or netbook, to get more information on stuff we saw or want to do next, but I may reconsider. I guess that I could still use them to dump some pictures on from my camera's memory card if it happens to fill up.
