Hello from Maryland!

I just discovered this website/the forum and didn't want to waste too much time before joining! My name is Theresa, I'm in my late 20s, and I am a Disney World addict. I went for my first trip back in 1990, but sadly not again until 2008. In order to make up for lost time, my husband and I have returned every year since, even going on our honeymoon and first anniversary. He was a bit wary about going during the honeymoon, and even though he won't admit quite yet that he's a Disney convert, he does talk about how much he loves the food (Dole Whips are his weakness) and even was the one who suggested going on our most recent trip during Star Wars Weekend a couple weeks ago.

For financial reasons, I'm pretty certain we won't be making it down again until 2013, so I'm hoping that hanging out here will help relieve some of my WDW-withdrawal. Looking forward to chatting with all of you!

Hello!! Welcome to WDWforgrownups..this is a great site to pass the time in between trips! Luckily our members write some awesome trip reports to make that PDD (Post Disney Depression) a little bit easier.

Hello and welcome!! Which part of MD are you from? We lived many years in the Montgomery County and Frederick County areas before moving a few times and landing in North Carolina.

Note that we are a group of enablers. And not afraid to admit it....

Thanks for all the greetings so far! I can already tell I'm going to enjoy my time here.

Bella - I started a trip report from our October trip back over the TheDis boards, but things got crazy and I stopped about halfway through. Maybe I'll copy and paste what I have from over there and try to finish it up here!

JustCar - Please go visit Gertie the Dinosaur for me =) I have a (huge) soft spot for her, and have to get a picture standing in front of her every single trip. It's one of the few things that really stands out in my memory from my first trip, and it's always one of the first things I do when we get into DHS. Here's my picture from earlier this month:

I figure it will be fun a few decades from now to see my gradual age progression in front of Gertie. Sadly, it also seems to be a tradition for her to be closed every time we try to grab some ice cream, haha. There's always next year! Also, if they've started to decorate for the Food and Wine Festival, I'd love to see the topiaries and banners they've got this year!

JeffC- I'm from the northern part of the state - lived most of my life in Harford Co, very close to the PA line. Spent some time in Anne Arundel, where my husband and his family are from, and now we've compromised and are exactly 40 minutes from each of our parents in Baltimore Co. If we don't pack up and move down to Florida, I think we're happy settling here for the forseeable future.

Mase - We've stayed on property for our past three trips. 2009 we stayed in Coronado Springs, 2010 we did a split stay between Pop Century and Port Orleans - Riverside, and our most recent trip we stayed at Caribbean Beach. I'd like to stay at a Deluxe, but we just haven't been able to budget for it just yet. Of the 4 we've been to, POR is our favorite resort by a landslide.

A quick look on eBay turned up nothing, but ill keep a look out because I check disney pins out on eBay.

Heh, I went on the Keys to the Kingdom tour through the Magic Kingdom when we were there in October, and it's one of the tours where you get to go through the utilidors, and we got to see the giant box that contains all the pins cast members can put on to pin trade with guests. It was all I could do to keep from shouting WAIIIIIIIIT!!!! And make them stop the tour so I could search for a Gertie pin.

Awe that is a cool pin..you know I dont think I've ever met someone who loved Gertie quiet so much..it's nice to see!

I'm actually from Maryland too..kind of. I was born in Carroll County..if my geography is right I don't think that's too far from Hartford County..we moved when I was 2 to South Carolina though so that's about the extent of my knowledge other than my family who lives in Baltimore and Hampstead.

Oof. Yeah, I love Gertie, but even I don't think I can justify spending that much on a pin. Although it says make an offer...but somehow I think that the offer of my undying gratitude might not be quite what they're looking for.
