The Magic Bug...

Good Morning All...It's contagious I tell ya..One of my neighbours has just found out that we have just booked WDW for October this year..Now his wife is nagging him to get his wallet out and use that Visa Card.( That's what it's for, isn't it ) So I told him about the 40% off deluxe resorts and other offers, plus Virgin Atlantic are running a sale right now..He has just phoned me and wants me round to his house tonight as his wife's sister and hubby want to book October with their two boys also.( never been before ) So that's a party of two adults and three bairns, and a party of two adults and two bairns..Now five minutes ago, my phone goes.." It's me again, my father & mother in law want to go as well"... eek .. I think I should be on commission...LOL..So what makes a Disney vacation so addictive.?..When I watch quiz shows on TV over here, and the quizmaster asks " What will you do if you win the money.?"...The contestant never says take a holiday to Spain...8 outa 10 say," Take the family off to Disney World." ..Tho sometimes they get mixed up and say Disneyland, but I know they mean Florida...So tonight I'am off to talk Disney with my neighbours and hopefully get them a magical dream vacation..What was my question again..Oh Yeh!...What in your mind makes a Disney trip so different than your average run of the mill vacation...For me I think it's pure escapism from the real world and into a fantasy world...Where else can an adult walk down Main Street USA wearing Mickey ears, and not one person will bat an eye lid.. clapping

What fun!! You have some good experiences to share!!
I agree with what you said--pure escapism!! We get down there
and forget all work problems and just be kids again!! No one judges you
by wearing that Mickey and Minnie tee!!

For us, it's the consistent quality of the experience and the fact that no two vacations need be the same because Disny offers such a wide variety of activities and amenities! I know people who take the same vacation to Myrtle Beach 2-3 times per year. They eat delicious food, see live entertainment, golf, and lay around on the beach. Well I can do ALL of those things at Disney plus interact with some of the most amazing characters ever created, have 60,000 + people bending over backwards to make sure that I have an enjoyable and memorable vacation, take tours that are both fun and educational, ride thrill rides and story driven rides, see amazing seasonal and holiday themed decorations, watch fireworks every night, visit 11 countries around the world in about 3 hours, and draw inspiration to create and dream when I get back home.

Well, I posted this earlier on another forum so I'll just copy it from there:

"Why WDW for more return trips than others? Well, a lot of reasons. I guess the first reason is the feeling of escape from reality. Disney World puts me in the bubble and once I'm inside, I don't think about the real world and real problems. Not too many places do that for me. Secondly, it's easier to plan because I've done it before. When you visit a new place, you're either with a tour group which can sometimes hold you back from doing the things you really want or you have to do everything on your own and do your own research with lodging, hotels, attractions, restaurants, transport, etc. There's also a ton of challenges with visiting a new place. You could easily get lost and run into bad situations beyond your wildest dreams. You could have trouble communicating because not everyone speaks English. (Maybe some do, but there are times they don't speak very well or are not fluent.) With Disney, that's not the case. There are tons of CMs around if you need them. Disney Transport easily gets you from the parks to the hotels. And English is language of communication so no worries there! And third, I always want to experience something different at WDW on each trip. I mean, Disney World is so huge and there are great experiences to enjoy beyond the theme parks!"
