Mandys wonderful adventure to New England. The Trip Report

One of my college friends is getting married this weekend I am flying up to attend it. I am so excited! It's been three years since I've seen her and the first time I will have met her husband to be. They live right on the edge of Massachusetts and New Hampshire. They live in Mass but are having everything in New Hampshire. This will be my first time leaving Florida since August of 2012 and my first time to New England. I will be leaving Friday morning from Florida and arriving in the late afternoon in New Hampshire. The wedding is Saturday morning then I shall leave Sunday afternoon and arrive in Orlando Sunday night. I am so freaking excited!!!

My flight was at 11:00 am leaving from Orlando International. I had used Uber to get to the airport and thanks to a friend, I had a promo code to use. I had requested a pick up time of 8 am to ensure I had plenty of time to get through security and what not. It cost me only $4 for the trip to the airport. Once there, I got to through the check in bag line since I had already checked in for my flight the day before and already had my boarding pass. Once my bag was checked, I headed over to security. I had made it through security just fine. I still had like 2 hours to spare once I found my gate. I had brought my sorcerer Mickey plush with me for comfort. I also brought along my kindle fire for entertainment on the plane. I had chosen Southwest for flying and I got a really good rate since I am a rapid rewards member, I got points for my flights.

The flight was nonstop which was very nice. I had a great flight. I listened to music while I read Kingdom Keepers: Shell Game for most of the flight. They offered peanuts and original crackers that were really good. They also offered complimentary soft drinks and alcoholic products could be bought as well. They also offer in flight wifi that has music, movies, ebooks and live tv.

Once I got there, I had picked up my bag and found my ride to the hotel. I stayed at the Red Roof Inn. On the way to the hotel, the gentlemen that picked me up offered to take me to a place to get something eat since nothing was within walking distance of my hotel. Once I had something to eat, I got dropped off at my hotel. I had a view of woods. Once I had eaten, I settled in for the night since I was really tired. I had also gotten into contact with my ride to the ceremony and reception.

The big day was finally here! I woke up and had gotten ready for the wedding. My ride arrived around 8:30 and we were earlier but that's okay because it gave me time to take some pictures along with take in the beautiful scenery that surrounded us.
Here is my outfit for the day:
003

The wedding was lovely. My friend made a very beautiful bride. The one thing that I find strange is that we stood for the whole ceremony. The wedding was hockey themed.
Here are some pictures I got of the ceremony and the area:
004
The lake

005 A pretty waterfall that was nearby

006 The wedding garden from the view by the waterfall

007 The boys arriving by boat

009 The program

010 The groom and minister

011 The mother of the groom

10885436_10152765851872100_7481160019831289671_n The happy newlyweds

Then they had cocktail hour after the ceremony while the bridal party took pictures. It seemed to take forever. They had a cash bar and some small plates offered like bacon wrapped scallops and mozzarella sticks. I took this opportunity to take some photos.

012 Thank you gifts

013 Seating cards

014 gifts table, they also had a hockey jersey we could sign

015 Close up of the jersey

016 Olaf managed to follow me up to New Hampshire

017 My seating card

018 The waterfall in the lobby of the reception area

019 The ceremony garden

Then we were let into the reception area. It was very pretty and well done. We were brought out a salad to start which was tasty. They had a buffet line and the cash bar was still open throughout the reception. For music they had one of his relatives dj. Here are some photos from the reception.

020 The cake and cupcakes

021 The table setting

023 The Brides parents

024 The Grooms mom and her escort

025 One of the bridesmaid and a groomsmen

026 Another bridesmaid and a groomsmen

027 The maid of honor and best man

038 Cutting of the cake

041 The bridal parties table

045 My table number

040 After cutting the cake and feeding each other a piece. They were very clean with it. Most of the single guys left before they could get to the bouquet throwing and garter throwing. I had caught the bouquet and no one had originally caught the garter because it fell on the floor. So the engaged groomsmen had ended up picking it up. The groom had ended up going after the garter mission impossible style. It was very funny and she was like oh come on, what are you doing. I had the pleasure to sit in the chair and have the guy put the garter on me. He apologized ahead of time and did it very classy. I'm guessing he did that way so his fiancee wouldn't get mad. Three of the groomsmen did a dance to Wild Wild West song that they had rehearsed a few years earlier for a middle school dance. Since both the bride and groom are karate champions, the masters from the dojo she studies at currently presented her with her state champ uniform which was updated with her new last name. They played a song with the intention of everyone being out on the dance floor. Of course it was a slow song and I didn't want to dance by myself. I saw the groom walk over to his brother and have him say something while pointing at me. His brother then came over and asked me to dance with him. It was nice but kind of awkward. The bride was constantly looking for the groom because as soon as he had a chance he went wandering around talking to people.

Of course they had the traditional father and daughter dance, the mother and son dance along with the how long have you been married dance. since the grandparents of the groom were older, the granddad couldn't walk very well, so one of the grandkids stood in for the granddad. It was very nice of him.

The newlyweds had left the reception in style.

I had gotten a ride back to the hotel with the same person that brought me. Once I was back, I got changed and settled in for the night. I turned to lifetime and they were playing the Secret life of Marilyn Monroe. It was very good.

I got to sleep in a little bit since my flight wasn't until 2:35 pm. to get to the airport, I had used uber again. Once again, I was two hours early to the airport. The flight back was a little bumpy but not bad. Once we were on the plane and left the gate, we had to hang out on the tarmac for 10-15 minutes until it was our turn to take off. On this flight they gave us pretzels and the same crackers as a snack along with complimentary soft drinks, water and coffee. Then you could buy alcohol as well. We landed about 20 minutes early and because of that, we had to hang out on the tarmac once again because our gate was occupied. So we had to wait for the other plane to leave. I had headed to the claims area to get my bag and my friend was there waiting for me.

One thing I had enjoyed was listening to the Boston accents of no r's. the uber driver that had picked up me called a taxi, a cabby. I had a great trip but I am happy to be home.

Mandy was the Red Roof Inn that you stayed at in Salem NH and was the reception at a place called 'Castleton'' in a town called Windham NH. Just curious, because 'Castleton' is where we got married 14 yrs. ago

SO GLAD we are already married. Joe loved every bit of this wedding as I was telling him about it. Luckily I got away with only a couple hockey anecdotes in the ceremony for ours. I would have been posing with a Stanly Cup replica if we were still engaged LOL

Great pics and I LOVE your dress. My favorite color!

Thanks for sharing with us!
