Mini Bar in Rooms at WL..

Ok...I know what your all thinking..Typical Scotsman wanting to know what's all this about..But I was reading stuff off the unofficial WL website, and it stated that rooms have a Mini Bar...I know that in Scotland, the hotels I stay in charge a fortune for the little miniatures of whisky..Gin..etc...So can anyone explain how this works at Disney..More so at WL resort..

Never heard of any room at Disney World Resorts having a mini bar in them, not that they didn't at one time. Wet bar & fridge, yes. Club level usually has an area were you get can get beer & wine. Disneyland resorts got rid of their mini bars about 7 years ago and the Swan & Dolphin had them once , but no longer that I am aware of from what Info I can find.

Hrmmm... I don't think that any of the Disney Resorts still have minibars in the manner that you mention. Those went away years ago. They may have a bar fridge/ mini fridge in them, which would be similar to what Angie posted in the grocery thread

By the looks of it, it's a mini-fridge that is complete empty so you can put in whatever you want to your liking for no extra charge from what I understand. It's funny. I've been reading news articles of how many hotels are ditching the in-room mini bar because apparently, some say people like to socialize and want to drink at the bars and/or guests don't value the minibar. (Surveys say WiFi is the biggest amenity guests want.)

Anyway, here's something a little more visual from a standard room at WL:

The giant square at the bottom right is the where the mini fridge is below the coffee maker and drawers:

Mini Fridge Close Up and yes, you need to BYOB if you know what I mean:

Even IF they were available, I assure you they would be expensive here too! Our hotels that do have them (not Disney) are very high priced on them and you'll be much more cost savvy to bring your own.

Heck it would be cheaper to go down to the snack shop and buy a beer or bottle of wine then use a minibar somewhere.

We were at WL in September and sorry to tell you this but no mini bar sad . However the Territory Lounge is amazing. Great snacks and amazing drinks. I had some great raspberry concoction that I can't remember the name of (maybe because I had to many of them). The fridge in the room is nice to have.

Way back...there were mini bars in some Disney resorts. We stayed at the Caribbean and POFQ and had mini bars but this was when the kids were young. Now most if not all the rooms have a small refrigerator.

Weird..But today I received by post.."The little big book of magic 2014 and this year official travel brochure for WDW..Here are the resorts that have a mini bar in their rooms..WL..Contemporary...Poly..Boardwalk..GF..I will try and get a photo of the page..This has got to be a printing error...Strange that AKL hasn't got a mention, nor Yacht & Beach Club.. confused

Here's photos from the brochure..Hopefully not upside down..

Some resorts, even those not Disney, call the room refrigerator a mini-bar...but there is nothing in the refrigerator until you add your items. They sell a lot of mini-bar items in the resort gift shops.

Cheers...That seems the most logical answer..
