Monorail hotel?

So I'm embracing planning out next trip hopefully late September 2014! I understand its budget season and free dining has happened before. The last 2 trips we had an off property suite for 130$/night with breakfast. I have monorail hotel envy and would love to stay at the poly so we could take a mid day swim! But 400-500$ a night! It just seems like so much money! Talk me into it!

Where to Start!?

Disney's Polynesian Resort is one of the original WDW Hotels offering a true taste of what the Vacation Kingdom of the world is supposed to be. This fully immersive hotel sits on the shores of the Seven Seas Lagoon offering quick and easy access to the Magic Kingdom by monorail or boat making a mid-day break the ultimate luxury.

The resort offers two table service restaurants in the grand Ceremonial House that have become fan favorites and offer experiences many guests visit the hotel just to participate in. It's also home to the Spirit of Aloha dinner show. In addition Captain Cooks, the resorts counter service eatery, is open 24 HOURS which means when you're stumbling back to your room at 1am, there's always a dole whip waiting for you. There are also two bars on property.

This resort is one of the few that gives you the feeling that you've been transported to another place with it's lush tropical grounds and white sand beach. There's nothing quite a wonderful as snuggling in a hammock with your honey watching Wishes under the stars. The music for the show is pipped in. Shopping at the Polynesian resort is also first rate with several gift shops and a Wyland gallery on property. Aloha is alive and well in this AAA Four Diamond Property. That's a rating that only 4.8% of AAA's rated hotels achieve. The resort offers two pools, with special Cabanas that can be reserved for the day or half day. And a variety of children's activities, as well as a kids club where the young'uns can go if Mom and Dad would like a night out for themselves.

Okay, enough of the stat run down... What makes it worth it? Location, location, location. Until you've had the experience hoping the monorail back to your hotel it's hard to understand what a great value this really is. If you're the kind of person that puts a value on your time, and on the convenience of something, this is where the real "worth" is going to come into play.

Perhaps you can do a split stay. Start at a moderate resort for a few days and finish over at the Poly for a few days. It will make the $ a little easier to take!

Well, if you really want to do it, and you can afford it, watch for the discounts and do it. We do. Are you a annual passholder? Those are the best discounts really we think. Scrappy just called about our July trip and got almost $900.00 off each room with our passholder discount they just released. Doyouwanna just remember, the prices will only go up later. For some people it is a once in a lifetime thing to stay in a deluxe resort.

Third, view from our room in Jan 2012, 3rd floor Tuvalu.
Fourth, sunrise at the Poly from our room!

We are not annual pass holders. I would live to stay at the poly. Closest thing to Hawaii in going to get to for a while!

We usually spend very little time in the room so 130$ off propery has always worked well. Might need to rethink this though!

That seems natural, you've always been really far away from your room biggrin

What may not quiet get from looking at the picture, the third one down, is that litttle spot sitting right on the horizon line in the middle. That's Cinderella Castle. It just doesn't get much better than that. mickey

It is a big jump in price, and "worth" means different things to different people. I'm a deluxe resort kind of girl, which is why we eventually bought DVC. The Polynesian is my favorite of the WDW hotels and we always spend time there if we're staying there of not.

Staying at the Poly is AWESOME!

I agree with everything that has been said.

I do want to add that while the monorail stops at the Ceremonial House to take you to the MK/resort/TTC loop, the TTC is actually walking distance from the Poly and you can skip the ride to the TTC when you want to go to Epcot. Its a nice perk.

Also, Electrical Water Parade. Awesome to sit on the beach and watch that parade and fire works from MK!

One last thing and this should seal the deal....

Macadamia Nut Pancakes.
