refillable mug

Hello!!!

Does anyone know if Disney has redesigned the refillable mug? I really don't need another mug with a beach/pool theme on it....but, I don't want to NOT use it this year either.

Hi there!

Here's a link to the story I wrote about this on Saturday.
http://www.wdwforgrownups.com/articles/rapid-fill-resort-mug-program-walt-disney-world

Though the company hasn't made the changes yet, they are installing the platforms to make it happen. I felt that it was safe to say that the change over is going to be happening very soon. When I call down to Disney to get official confirmation there is still no one talking. I expect that an official announcement will most likely be made within the next 4 weeks. That however, is my best guess.

All of the specific details (though still just rumor) can be found on the DFB here along with pictures of the new machines.

oh! Duh!

I just realized that you were talking about the picture on the mug. As far as we know it will remain the same.

I wonder if these will be in place by September. I'll be anxious to see. We are taking our ones from May just to have a couple of extra with us.

I wish they would change the picture or the colors of the cups. My DB and I have been coming to WDW together since like 2010 and all of our mugs have been the same because they've only offered the same cups at the resorts we stayed at.

In my perfect world they would return to the custom cups for each resort.
The last of my Wilderness Lodge mugs died not to long ago.
However the discounts involved in bulk purchasing make that very unlikely.

I wish they'd just change them yearly!

I think Disney are actually missing a trick here. I would pay extra for a resort specific or limited edition mug.

We use the dining plan so I love the idea of using our mugs at other resorts. Like the idea of taking a midday break from epcot and get a refill at the bakery. Can you use your mugs at other resorts now?

I think the RFID chip in the cups is a great idea. I have seen people with old cups using them to get their drinks at POR when we were there in January. If they do implement this, then I think it's also a great idea that we can re-use the cups and just load them up again instead of buying new ones each time. We'll be at BWI in 27 days, so will report back if we see any changes.

Based on what I read on the Blog, it appears you should be able to as long as they have the new RFID technology.

You are not supposed to - but until now it has always been on the honor system.

Green, Purple, Orange and I think Yellow. I think its in conjunction with the rapid refill program at the resorts.

Good Article, Kristen!

And Good Intel, Mandy on the colors!

I wish they'd just let us refill at the parks, already. Is that so much to ask when I'm paying $17.99 for a mug??

Even if they charged 2x that, when you consider it's $4 a soda, it's still worth it!!

Thanks! I've been waiting for new mugs (color or design) since 2010. There are some qsr's that have the fountain beverages where the guest fills the cup and not the cast members. Restaurantosaurus and Backlot Express are two that do that where you can get refills on your drinks.
