Rob N Lyn Trip Report

Here's my attempt at my first trip report Smile

We are going to Disney World for the first time by ourselves! We usually go with larger groups and we are looking forward to a more relaxed time !

We are booked for 1 night at Wilderness Lodge in a 1 bedroom villa. The next day we jump over to the Boardwalk in a Deluxe Studio for 3 nights. Our final 3 nights will be at the Animal Kingdom Lodge (Kidani).

and it begins.....Day 1

We were up an ready to start our adventure at 4am on Sunday. Our flight was at 7 am. We have a smaller airport about 40 minutes away from the house. It only took 25 minutes to park and check our bags and get thru security ( so nice ). The flight was smooth and on time. We arrived in Orlando at 10:30am. We then headed to the Magical Express and had to wait for about 10 minutes for our bus. We eagerly climbed aboared and headed to the World. We arrived at Wilderness Lodge at 12:15 . We did online check in which went very smoothly. O ur room wasnt ready but we had a ADR for Whispering Canyon for 1:00 . We showed up at 12:30 and was seated right away. We used the Deluxe Dining plan (which everyone knows is a big foodfest.

Appetizer

Rob Pork Spring rolls (so good )
Lyn Western Chips (best salsa)

Entrees
Rob Smoked Chicken Quesadilla
Lyn Seasonal All You Care to Enjoy Platter

Desserts
We both enjoyed a Apple-Caramel Pie

Our meal turned out to be so-so and have lost my love for Whispering Canyon's atmosphere. Beside the pork rolls and salsa, everything else was just ok . Before we finished lunch, we got a text telling us our room was ready. The room was very nice! We had 1 BR on the first floor, which had a patio. On our first visit to disney, we stayed at the Wilderness in a 2 BR villa. which was very spacious. Wilderness Lodge will always be our favorite resort. We headed down to the pool where we found a table and ordered a couple drinks . Black cherry Lemonade and a Category 5 (My Favorite drink ) .We did a little people watching and enjoyed the sun (75 degrees) . We headed back to the room and found our luggage in the room . We changed and headed down to Downtown Disney to do some shopping. By the way, thank you Disney Visa for the $350 in rewards.that we saved throughout the year. It more than covered our souvenirs. We had ADR at Fultons Crab House for 8pm.

Appetizer

Rob Crab Cake
Lyn Shrimp Cocktail

Entrees
Rob Cowboy Ribeye
Lyn Alaska King Crab

Desserts

Rob Flourless Chocolate Cake
Lyn Mixed Berry Sorbet

This meal was great, food was delicious and the service was exceptional!! We had the same waiter as we did last year (we remembered him and he remembered us). He cleaned all the king crab for Lyn and was on top of everything, as far as drinks and service (nice tip was given ). We were so full and tired! It was a long, long day as we eagerly headed for the bus! Well, day 1 is in the books. I promise I will try to get a little more done tomorrow Smile I also added a few pictures of Day 1 !!! muchlove

Nice start! Glad to hear Fulton's was good. We shied away from there for a while after they started taking the DDP, because it changed so much and the service, food and atmosphere went down hill so bad. They cut the menu to like 1/3 of what they used to have. They also had stopped getting fresh seafood shipped in? Were you ever there before they took the dinning plan?

Great start! I am also excited to hear a great review from Fulton's Crab House. That was a family favorite years ago, but as Mr. Hub stated it drastically changed when the DDP was accepted there.

What did you think of the DDP? Was it too much or just enough food?

I found it to be a little to much . We ate 2 meals a day only did 1 Breakfast . A lot of 2 point meals. We skipped a few or took dessert back to the room. But i still found DDP a plus for us . I love the option of getting whatever we like and not to worry about price as it is already paid for Smile

Great pictures of the WL. NHShorty and I really like staying there too.

We agree that the 1 bedroom studio is a excellent value.

Keep the report coming! It's helping me to cope with this NH winter!

Day 2 ..

We Slept in till 9 am ( Love Vacation ). We Called bell service to get our bags for transfer to the Boardwalk. They were very prompt and there within minutes! We were surprised how easily the transfer process is between resorts. We took our first boatride to MK and then jumped on a bus to Boardwalk. We were checked in and in our deluxe studio (pool view) by noon. It's just a short walk from Boardwalk to Epcot. We had an ADR at Rose & Crown for 1 pm. Our first time eating here and we enjoyed it very much !!

Drinks Stella Artois Beer

Appetizers
Rob Roasted Sea Scallops
Lyn Frisee and Apple Salad Both Appetizers were good
Lunch

Rob Fish and Chips
Lyn Fish and Chips We enjoyed our fish and chips .I would recommend !!

Dessert

Rob Sticky Toffee Pudding
Lyn Sticky Toffee Pudding SOOOOO GOOOOD!!

We took our time in Canada & England taking pictures of all the beautiful flowers and Shrub Sculptures!! Our FP was for Fast Track and Soarin' (our must ride). We then started our Journey across the world. Lyn did shopping at Guerlaine for her favorite Perfume/lotion on our way to Morocco to find the hidden Mickey Smile We missed it last time we were there . Then we worked our way to Germany and grabbed a beer or 2 !! Lyn was able to sneak in the Christmas shop, while i was in line for the beer. (I love that they ship directly to our room which saves me from carrying around alot of bags!!) Lyn was able to score 4 beautiful hand blown glass Christmas ornaments for the tree ! As always, lots of stops where we could do one of our favorite pastimes while in Disney, people watching !!! We found our way to Norway and went on the ride Maelstrom and from there it was time for our ADR at La Hacienda and was seated at a wonderful window seat to watch Illuminations!

Drinks
Rob Orange Mango Fire Margarita
Lyn Lime Rasberry Margarita

Appetizers
Rob Taquiza ( Taco trio ) we loved our tacos !!
Lyn Taquiza

Diner

Rob We shared Parrillada (serves 2 people)
Lyn Mixed grill offering flank steak, chicken al pastor, chorizo and vegetables, served with beans and fresh salsa

We both agreed that there were more cons than pros with this dish. Chicken was very good, the steak was tough and we didn't care for the chorizo. Their salsa and chips were awesome! Over all, I think we made a bad choice here for our main course and would love to try another meal here, as for Illuminatons, the view here was great!!

Dessert

Rob Empanada de Manzana
Lyn Empanada de Manzana Puff pastry filled with sauteed caramel apples and vanilla bean ice cream with kahlua sauce
We Loved this dessert

Then came the long walk back to Boardwalk. It was a beautiful moonlit night as we headed back thru Epcot to Boardwalk, and were surprised that we were almost totally alone in the park. What a great night we had just wish everyone could find the Joy we do in Disney World !! because they don't know what they are missing:)

Day 4 mickey

Another morning of sleeping in biggrin . We got motivated around 8am, grabbed our mugs and headed down to the BW for coffee and then caught a bus for Animal Kingdom. We found that the bus system was in our favor this trip; always seemed to catch a bus right away !! We had ADR's for noon at Rainforest Cafe, so had time to catch a show. We've never seen It's tough to be a Bug and were able to immediately catch the show. We were surprisingly entertained with this 3-D show and loved that it was in the Tree of Life. Did a little shopping and then headed to Rainforest Cafe for lunch.

Appetizers
We both had the Rainforest pita quesadilla's - they were delicious and could have been our meal !

Lunch
Rob had Taste of the Island (coconut shrimp, blackened tilapia topped with mango salsa with scallops and shrimp). Was one of my best meals !!

Lyn had Mojo Bones (BBQ ribs) they were very tasty but Lyn was still full from the appetizer !

They had a GREAT selection of desserts, but we both had to skip them this meal. The menu here is huge with lots of options for everyone!

After lunch, we headed for the Safari! We had a FP for later that day but when we got there, there was only a 10-minute wait.
This is also a must when we go to AK - we always learn or see something new.

After the Safari, it looked like it was about to rain, so we headed back to the BW. We relaxed in our room for a couple hours before heading out for our ADR at Narcoossee's. We decided to take a taxi because it was raining pretty hard (our only rainy day).

Our ADR was for 7:30 but we got there a little early. We planned on watching Wishes from a table at a window and took the option of waiting for one to open, so we headed to the bar for a drink. We were entertained by Rick the bartender, who took us down memory lane talking about the 80's Atari & Nintendo games at Disney Quest in Downtown Disney. We'll definitely try this on our next visit. Sounds like alot of fun! We were then escorted to our table with a great view for dinner and Wishes. We had about 1/2 hour before the Wishes show which was perfect.

Appetizer
Rob - BBQ shrimp and grits - so good
Lyn - Winter Orchard Salad - she said best salad ever !

Dinner
We both had the lobster & filet mignon w/roasted potato's - we ordered the butter poached lobster (which was so tender) and our filets were cooked perfect ! This is also a must for us and would highly recommend this meal on the DDP !!

During dinner, the lights dimmed, and music was piped in for our showing of Wishes. Spectacular stars !! Great View, Great Food and wonderful atmosphere.

After dinner, since it was still raining, we headed back to BW by taxi to end another magical day !

Nice report! I had the same impression of the Yachtsmen. Had the prime rib and I think it was one of the best I've had. We'll be back there for sure in Sept. You have me wanting to try Fulton's too!

Day 5

We were up early today, eager to get the day started. We checked out of Boardwalk and made our way to Magic Kingdom. We went on the Disney Key to the Kingdom tour. We were really looking forward to this. Was something we always wanted to do !! Our Guide, Debbie, was Brilliant. You felt as if Walt was a family member. We learned a lot about Roy Disney and the history of Disney. We went on 3 rides: Jungle cruise, Haunted Mansion & Pirates of the Carribean, and learned alot about hidden Mickey's, and other interesting facts. Loved going back stage to see where the floats were stored and also getting a glimpse of the new floats. Dinner was at Columbia Harbor House. We both had the fish and fries was good . We always heard about the "underground" at Disney. Well they call it the utilidoors and it's buzzing with activity. Vendors, cast members, vehicles everywhere, all preparing for the Kingdom. We looked at pictures taken of Walt & Roy in the early years while planning for Disney World, followed by a short movie . The biggest thing I learned on this tour was when visiting the parks, you need to slow down and pay attention to the details. Its all around you, just need to take the time to find it !! Only one thing i would change on this tour is the length - 5 1/2 hours is a little much, alot of standing and walking; however I would HIGHLY recommend this tour. A little exhausted, we then headed to our next resort, Kadani to check in. No Problem checking in except we got a room at least a mile from lobby . We booked a deluxe studio savanna view . The room was had a spectacular view off our balcony of giraffes and a few other animals. Called for our luggage and was there in 10 minutes. We have ADR for California Grille at 7:15 for dinner and Wishes. We were escorted up to the 15th floor, where we patiently waited at the bar for a table at a window for the viewing of Wishes. We were seated within 20 minutes with a beautiful view. Our first time eating here (wont be our last ).

Appetizer
Rob Spicy Kazan Roll first time trying Sushi AND I LOVED IT !!!
Lyn Farmers Salad

Entrees
Rob Oak-fired Filet of Beef
Lyn Oak-fired Filet of Beef

Desserts
Rob Sundae Sampler
Lyn Sundae Sampler

We Loved this place and look forward to a return on our next trip . The viewing of Wishes was great, if you havent done this, your missing out !

After a very exhausting day of touring, check in and eating, we decided a quick ride back in a taxi was in order. Needless to say, it didn't take long to fall asleep. Day 5 was over and we realized only a couple more days of magic left Sad Puzzled Sad(

That tour sounds great! That is a long time though- I would be apprehensive about taking that much time out of my personal park-exploring.
And, yum yum yum on all the food!!

Great report. Tour much too long. Unless you are not telling us something. Did they show you Walt's apartment? Tinkerbell's powder room? The basketball court at the top of Space Mountain?

We're doing the KTTKT in September so I'm happy to hear another good review! What time did your tour start? We're planning on booking the 8:30am one so it doesn't eat into too much of our day.
