Room Arrangements for Group Travel

When traveling with a group of people, be it friends or family, how close do you like to be?

Would you prefer all of your rooms together so that you're with each other all of the time? Have you had trouble getting rooms nearby?

Or would you like to be spread out more? Maybe even in different hotels?

Let me know what works best for your family vacation planning!

Last year we went in Aug and in Dec!!!! yay yay
For the Aug. trip, we stayed at FWCabins. We had a cabin right next to our cousins. That worked out great and we had no problem getting cabins next to each other. We arrived 1 day later than they did. When we booked, we used my booking code and they just put us on a 3 way convo since we would be traveling together and it was my code! Being that close made it much easier to figure out what we were doing and we didn't have to wonder if they were ready or where we should meet them.

In Dec. my MIL came with us and and although I joked with the CM that I would prefer her to be on a different floor..... laugh laugh They marked us as traveling together and they put her right across the hall from us. I wasn't sure how that was initally going to work out since she had a standard view and we had a courtyard view, but they were able to put us in an area that that was possible.

Our friends also were with us for the Dec. trip and they decided to stay at a different resort. I thought it made it more challenging to meet up with them. There was a lot of texting going on, where are you, meet you here, we aren't ready, ect....

For both trips, even though we traveled in a group, and stayed right next to each other we were still able to slip away for our own time. That made all the difference in the World! Sometimes you just need that time away!

I've done that texting/ meet up/ not ready yet thing and it does put a bit of a damper on things. When I'm ready to go I just want to get there. Besides, great conversations can happen on the way to and from your destination!

We were about 10 doors down a a cruise with my Inlaws this year. We were close enough it was easy if we were all leaving at the same time, but getting together after we had spread out during the day was sometimes harder.

one year we went with a group from my elk's lodge and i got 10 rooms right next to each other, but we all still did our own things if we wanted. I never wait around for anybody else, i tell people where we are going and what time and if they want to go with that fine or meet us there or not does not matter to me as long as my family is having fun. we also stay with friends a lot in a two bedroom, and also keep to our own schedule

We visited with good friends of ours last year and stayed in a vacation home. If we had stayed on site I think we would have tried to get rooms close by or even connecting rooms. We are talking about bring my Mom with us on our next trip and will probably try for an AOA suite!

When we went last year with my bf's bro and fiance there might have been pulled hair if they hadn't been staying at a different hotel. That being said, they were off property so we had to wait for them every morning....

Ryry - haha! Sounds like a little space was a very good thing in that instance!

I haven't mastered the art of going places with people yet. I'd love to hear more about how y'all make that work. We took a cruise a few years back - my hubby and me with our daughter (DS hadn't arrived yet), my mother and grandmother, and DH's parents. I thought it would be the PERFECT together-but-not-too-together trip. Instead, my In laws sat around everyday and waited for us to tell them what to do. It was like hittin the ball and draggin Joe everywhere we went. wink

I'm soooo sorry! I didn't mean to worry y'all, but I'm touched that you were! Life just got a little bit crazy...I had taken on some new roles with my job, and was otherwise having a hard time "getting it all done." It left very little time for coming to my favorite spot with all y'all! But I'm back, with ears on! mickey

I've been going with friends. We stay at Pop but in different sections. They like to stay in the prefered room near the Hippy Dippy Pool. I stay in a standard room. I don't think it's worth the extra money. Although, there are some nights I wish I paid the extra as it seems like I'm walking miles and miles to get to my room after a long day.

Well my husband and I decided that we want to take his mom with us next year. So we were looking at CBR but it doesn't sleep five. My son was wanting the pirate rooms and I didn't want her to be in a room by herself so I told my son about the cars family suite at AoA. He was more than happy to change for his grandma sake, of course. Now we can all be together.

On the other hand my husband has 2 older daughters from a previous marriage. One is 21 with three daughters and lives with her boyfriend. They have talked about coming to Disney with us. We would book them in the same resort as us, but not in the same room. Trust me they have lived with us at different times when they have had housing issues. Aka eviction problems. Anyway we would not want that for a vacation.
