Running Events?

Is anyone planning on doing any of the running events in 2012? I just checked the scales this morning and the horror has left me looking for something to motivate me. Have you done any of the running events? Are you/would you?

My daughter and I signed up for the Princess Weekend 5K!

I haven't been working out very much, but I have about 40 days to work up my stamina! Right now I can do about 2.66 miles at a pace that I won't get swept. That's only .5 miles from a 5K. yay

My husband just returned from completing the Goofy Challenge. That's the half marathon on Saturday and full marathon on Sunday. He said it was a lot of fun, folks came in from all over to run and that it was an incredibly well run event. His running partners and he opted to sign up for the VIP package for the race days so that they would have access to a special area for food, relaxation, seating areas, changing areas, etc and he said it was worth every penny. He was glad to have stayed in the park-made it a lot easier to get to the start areas as these races start really early in the morning.

No running for me since the 2 knee surgeries this year. Note that I am not complaining about that either biggrin

Wow! That's an awesome accomplishment!

I'm toying with the Wine and Dine again. But I'd like to start my training now, and really get fit for it. I enjoyed the experience, and would like to do better at it this time around.

I was wondering if you were going to run another one! I hope you do and that you'll get to enjoy it a little more this time!

I checked the run Disney site and it scared me. I don't think I could get my pace down to the mandatory 16! I'd drop over! My pace is 20 now and I dont think I'll be getting any lower then that.

You can totally do one of the 5K's with a 20 minute pace. I have in the past and that's where I still am. I'm registered for the Royal Family 5K next month. At a 20 minute pace you don't really have time to stop and get pictures with the characters, but there's always a big crowd hanging out right around that time. The back of the pack has more fun!!
