Is Sea World as big of a deal as Universal Studios?

I always think of Universal Studios as the main "competition" (if we can use that word) to Disney in Orlando. Is Sea World in the same ballpark? I'm not really that familiar with any of the places besides Disney so I could easily have a messed up opinion.

Seaworld may be in 3rd position with regard to visitor numbers, but remember the parent company Seaworld Adventure Parks (formerly Busch Entertainments) own's three parks in Orlando (Seaworld, Discovery Cove & Aquatica) and Busch Gardens Tampa within a hours drive.

IMO it's as much worth a visit as the Universal parks, maybe even more so.

I haven't been to a sea world in YEARS. I've heard some great things about the Orlando sea world rides, but I've never been a big fan of seeing the marine life shows. I get sad that the animals are in captivity.

Ridden the Kraken a number of times, love it. The Manta is good too.

The Manta is fairly new, right? It's the one that goes down into the ground. Or am I thinking of another one?

Tony:

If I'm not that in to watching the fish shows is there still enough to do there? (might be a stupid question)

There's a pets show and plenty of aquariums to look at. And the Artic experience ride.
Without the big shows (Whales, Dolphins, Sealions) we could still fill a very easy day.

Would it still be worth the money and going out of your way?

I really love the Sea World. Our last visit of Sea World was great we arrived early in the morning in the park and the park was not packed. The staff was hospitable and gladly to help with any query. We took the photograph with the characters of park; it was really memorable trip of Universal Sea world.

Best Regards,
