Smoking - Where can you light up ? Resorts & Parks

Oh yeah! I am in pre-plan mode for 2015.
Taking our friends & Dave is a fairly heavy smoker.
I haven't paid much attention to smoking laws at WDW
in the past.

A previous blog from 2009 showed that there are designated
smoking locations thru out the Parks...does anyone
know if this is still true?

Also the Resorts...although I am not sure yet where
we will be staying, are there smoking and non smoking rooms?
Can you smoke off a balcony of a DVC rental at AKL?

Any smoking ideas or tips?

There are designated smoking areas in each park. I can't help you with the question about a room, but there is also designated smoking areas at POR so I would assume there are at others.

Well I guess if I was more patient in waiting for the Disney site to come up
I could have answered my own questions!

Theme Parks and Water Parks

Smoking is permitted in clearly marked, specially selected areas only. Check the theme park Guidemaps for specific locations.

Pop Century has a smoking area by the lobby, there is one by the computer pool, one in between buildings 1 & 3 and along memory lane by the lake.

Art of Animation has one by the lobby, the one by cars is closer to the path by the lake and the path by lake also has smoking areas.

At Hollywood Studios the smoking areas are by Gertie the Dinosaur by Indiana Jones, by Lights! Motors! Action!, outside the Backlot Tour by the oversized Coke bottles, by ABC Commissary closest to The Great Movie Ride, between the popcorn cart and Brown Derby along with behind Scoops by the entrance to Rock 'n' Roller Coaster. There are also smoking areas out by the buses as well.

At Magic Kingdom there is one by the Plaza Restaurant on the steps, by the restrooms nearest Space Mountain, on the steps by Splash Mountain, by Aloha Isle in Adventureland and behind the castle by Mickey's tailor store.

At Epcot there is one in Future World East, Future World West, China, International Gateway, Italy, Japan, showcase plaza East and showcase plaza West.

At Animal Kingdom there is one in the conservation station, by Expedition Everest and by the main entrance.

Here is a link to where all the smoking locations are at: https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/guest-services/designated-smoking-areas/

So - just to be clear (because I misread this at first).

There is NO Smoking allowed on guest room patios and balconies.
Those who are caught will be charged up to $500

But they are getting rid of more and more every year, so none of those are guaranteed. Every year they get rid of more and more smoking areas. I don't smoke anymore but Scrappy still does so we are always searching for them.

At Animal Kingdom there is also a smoking section at the exit of Dinosaur. It is at the bottom of the hill when you exit, by the Dinosaur to your right, it's before you enter the gift shop.

At Magic Kingdom there is also a smoking section at the bottom of the exit to Big Thunder Railroad, down by the water.

But by 2015 they may all be completely different, or there may be none left at all by then!

Those are the ones currently listed on the website and that they currently have. Just keep checking the website to see if anything changes.
