Sorry for the delay... have been way too busy for one person. Plus, I wanted to make sure it was well written and captured the feeling of the trip!
Pre-Arrival
I will have to say that I had my doubts surrounding this trip in the few days leading up to it. My now-fiance came down with the flu on Thursday, so we had to make sure she rested up as much as possible before Monday morning. This also meant me making multiple trips to Walgreens and CVS for meds and chicken soup! Our flight was Monday morning at 6:30, so the shuttle was to pick us up at 4:15 at our house. Love Rapid Rover!! Unfortunately, our excitement and the timing of the arrangements left us with about an hour and a half of sleep. With the help of caffeine and our iPads on the plane, we were able to stay awake. We got through security without a hitch, and no one suspected I had an engagement ring in my carry-on (whew!).
Day 1
It was so nice to land and look out the plane window to see palm trees and sun, especially after leaving 30 degree weather, bare trees and darkness.
The trek through MCO to the Magical Express spot is always fun. Your mind starts racing with the thoughts of impending fun, excitement and relaxation! We waited about 20 minutes before we boarded the bus to POFQ. What a beautiful resort!! After visiting the real French Quarter years ago, I will have to say Disney nailed it (no surprise there). Our room was ready as soon as we got there. Don't know if that's thanks to Online Check-In, but awesome nonetheless.
We grabbed lunch at Sassagoula Float Works, and then headed out to Epcot. The bus depot at POFQ was right outside our building! We were excited and happy, yet starting to fade energy-wise. We walked right onto Spaceship Earth (the classic first destination upon arrival at Epcot, and still a classic), and then poked around leisurely, making our way to World Showcase. After enjoying a couple of Grey Goose slushies, we made the trek to Mexico for our ADR at San Angel Inn. The GF was really hungry and getting tired, so we were able to get in a full hour before our time. Of course, our not so good luck over the past few days carried over to WDW. During our meal, the boat ride stopped, the music stopped, and the lights even came on. It was strange seeing the lights on in there! It probably happened 4 times during our time there. After dinner we poked around Epcot some more until it started to get dark, and we decided to head back to the resort for some rest.
